I am really happy to give away my this years "Christmas Mix" (Number 05). This time I decided to record my DJ Mix in a Club in Germany (Augsburg) called "Kesselhaus" which I really love. Calling an EP “Devil” although it will most certainly conjure a smile on the face of any elctronic music enthusiast might come as a surprise, or even cause confusion. 
But let’s be fucking serious, when Boris Brejcha picked this title, he had probably no evil thoughts in mind but was rather daydreaming of one of his many shows that are known to turn any club into a diabolically hot sweat lodge due to the energetic atmosphere and ecstatic crows. 
So in the end you could arque that the title of his new EP seems long overdue. 

The name giving A-Side comes as clean and to the point as we know it from Boris Brejcha.
A rolling beat that never looks back but marches forward, driven by pure energy and nifty as hell. 
Let the speaking devil suck you into this dark piece of High-Tech Minimal and join the ride for almost the minutes. 

Right from the start “The Darkest Night” reveals an even groovier drive that makes it sound unstoppable. Furthermore the track turns out to be an emotional rollercoaster in the form of a roaring and intimidating fanfare that fades in and out before a catchy melody line spreads a thoughtful and intimate atmosphere. This B-side will definitely make you want to go for another round…and another round…

Last but not least this “devilish” EP will end “In The Middle Of Nowhere”. But unlike the name implies, Boris Brejcha is taking you right to his musical epicenter. 
Expect one of Boris’ most multifaceted tracks that prove why his career continues to skyrocket.

The Saying “blood is thicker than water” isn’t used by chance, especcially not when talking about Theydream. The two brothers from beaituful Switzerland have formed an unbreakable bond based on both brother’s love of electronic music which they emphasize with their new “Rocket Man” EP yet again.

With the title giving A-side track ”Rocket Man” the guys stay true to their name by inviting you, into their world of deep, melancholic and gloomy sound spheres which absorb you completely and leave you behind stunned and thrilled.

The B-Side “Pi Persei” connects seamlessly and keeps your journey running through the next level of zero gravity and hypnosis. Integrated into a perfectly aligned beat structure, all three tracks are bursting with self-confidence and sophistication, certainly nothing you would be taking for granted when being confronted with these two humble and withdrawn young gentlemen.

Theydream suceed in surprising us, also with their third track “Inertia”: an elaborate and gloriously, puristic piece of music which rounds of this impressive 3-track EP. We can all be looking forward to watching the brothers climb up the ladder of success in the near of future.

Wehbba collaborates with ghetto tech legend DJ Deeon, to deliver another superlative EP on Drumcode.

Since his debut on Drumcode in 2017, Brazil’s Wehbba has become one of the most dependable and impressive artists on the roster. Last year saw two standout EP’s ‘Eclipse’ and ‘Catarse’ drop on the imprint, alongside ‘Just’, his strong contribution to A-Sides Vol.7. He also made his mark playing Drumcode events at OFF Week, Resistance Ibiza and the much talked about double header in Manchester and Bristol when DC took over Warehouse Project and Motion respectively.

A true master craftsman in the studio, his first contribution for 2019 is typically impressive. A huge inspiration to Wehbba since his nascent raver days, ghetto tech icon DJ Deeon contributes a fierce vocal to ‘We Have Bass’, after a serendipitous hook up in São Paulo. A peak career moment collaborating with one of his original heroes and the artist responsible for the classic ‘Freak Like Me’, the resulting percussive-heavy cut kicks like a rodeo bull. ‘Third Wave’ is coffee geek Wehbba’s homage to his favourite brew, constructing the production to mirror the experience of a caffeine fix, as a loopy trance-inducing groove leads to powerful synth stabs that are heavy on impact. ‘Steamroller’ is a stripped back slice of techno driven by the Brazilian’s Korg MS-20 and found form after it initially begun as a studio jam inspired by Richie Hawtin’s ‘Minus Orange’. 

A Jean-Michel Jarre fan stretching back to his childhood, ‘Another Mistake’ was conceived after Wehbba saw the French legend in concert last year and was subsequently able to meet him backstage through a mutual friend. While creating the track, the producer imagined Jarre playing the main layers of the hook on his famous Laser-harp, eliciting an almost celestial quality with the melody. This is a stirring slice of techno fit for stadiums. The EP ends with ‘Purge’, the artist’s stream-of-consciousness expression recorded in one-take and a beautiful beat-less way to conclude the work.

Born of Thai heritage but currently based in Berlin, Nakadia is an artist whose techno tracks have been released on noteworthy labels such as Filth on Acid, KD Music and Bedrock.

A popular headline DJ who has performed across 67 countries, she prides herself on being someone who has escaped a deprived lifestyle after being born in a small Thai village without electricity or running water.

In 2002 she was invited to Germany, where she discovered techno and the fact that she had a natural talent for DJing. She poured her passion and soul into overcoming adversity, until becoming the globally recognised icon she is today.

With fans of her music including the likes of Carl Cox, she is a fixed name in Ibiza often headlineing Zoo Project or Unusual Suspects, and its releases like this one that give testament to why she is in constant high demand currently playing over 100 international gigs each year.

Opening the EP is the pitched tom drums and rattling percussion of Acid Storm which unleashes hell with the building tension of its pulsating acid-line and dramatic bass stabs.

Serenity Now focuses on dark atmosphere with snare rolls, a rumbling bassline and sinister melody cranking up the intensity, whilst the hard hitting kick drum punches with a thundering ferocity.
Last but not least is Assault that starts with an extended intro that slowly unfolds into a looped melody hook encased in a percussive framework. The hypnotising groove builds to a crescendo in the main breakdown before unleashing a surge of energy when the drums come crashing back in.
