D.A.V.E. The Drummer has been omnipresent on the techno circuit since the very early days, emerging through the London illegal warehouse party scene of the 90’s.  

Via his signature tough sounds and stripped back productions, D.A.V.E. The Drummer has clocked up an arsenal of releases for his Hydraulix, Apex and Mutate To Survive labels, as well as entries into the catalogues of Naked Lunch, Stay Up Forever, Suara and Phobiq, to name but a few.

His trio of tracks for Kneaded Pains on the ‘TTHHAAATTTSS CRAAAZZYY!!!’ EP embody the purist sound that has become his trademark; raw and uncompromising techno funk laced with mind bending modular madness!

Toronto native Carlo Lio tees up an industrious release for Eats Everything & Andres Campo’s EI8HT label, unleashing a quadruplet of tasty techno cuts on the ‘Back To Front’ EP.

Alongside his trusted studio partner, Nathan Barato, Lio runs and curates the dynamite Rawthentic Music label, and has also fired out classy releases for Dubfire’s SCI+TEC label, elrow Music and more.

A hypnotising tone is set with the rolling toms, booming kicks and repetitious vocal stabs on title track ‘Back To Front’, as a hardworking groove is diligently carved out, whilst ‘Blind Sided’ slides in one of the Jeff Mills-esque orchestral stab riffs, albeit at a slower tempo, for a serious Detroit inspired cut.

The panning vocals of ‘Last Man On Mars’ provide a dissonant edge, as a bass bin shaking drum rhythm powers on through, and EP finale, ‘Trippy Bizz’, saves the meatiest of kicks until last, as an infernal mood is set with the addition of a twisted synth lead and discordant vocals.

Making waves all the way from the city of Barcelona, Daniel Orpi is a fresh addition to the modern dance scene. Based in London, the talented producer, and DJ is a rising star in the underground music community, emerging with unique mixes and sounds that have impressed music legends such as Annie Mac and Danny Howard. 

Launching his brand new label Diggin’, Daniel Orpi releases a collection entitled “Wild Steps” of essential edits from inspirations throughout his career. The first tracks on the mixtape are a selection of some of his favorite RnB songs, from artists including Janet Jackson, Snoop Dogg, and Goldlink. His second track, “U Say” is a blissful blend of House and RnB. The beats flow organically together making it essential for all dance floors. 

In recent works, he’s created animated clips to represent his inspiration to go alongside his music, giving listeners a better feel for what he represents. He displays a unique vision of his brand and showcases how he has grown as a producer over the pandemic, as evidenced by the creativity and quality of his latest release.

Hannah Monica is based in Los Angeles, is a Resident DJ for Understated, and manages the music label Understated @ Nite. She delivers a bouncy and captivating acid-techno single on the Understated @ Nite label, which concentrates on the dark, techno, melodic, and progressive sounds emerging from LA's thriving underground dance music scene. Understated is eager to present the new "Never Over" single as Hannah Monica’s first solo release. 

"Never Over" is upbeat and fills the listener with energy and happiness. The track is full of reverb, metallic vocals, a bouncy acid patch, a groovy bassline, and a solid kick which together create a great dance floor ready track that will get the crowd moving.

It’s a rare moment in the life of Robert Hood’s M-Plant label when he hands over to another producer, but no surprise that he should pick Mark Broom for the next release, seeing as he’s previously been entrusted to provide edits of Hood’s tracks for the label’s 20th Anniversary celebrations (MPM19) and is currently tearing up dancefloors with his unreleased dubplate mix of Floorplan’s ‘Never Grow Old’.

The original version of ‘Stunned’ was released on Mark Broom & Dave Hill’s renowned Pure Plastic label back in 1997. The “97 Mix” featured here started as a live mix of the track, which Mark has now tweaked for maximum dancefloor devastation.

It’s accompanied on the flip side by a brand new composition of equally outstanding quality. Broom is in fine form on ‘Decay’ with his tight production skills delivering the kind of tough, raw Techno that sits perfectly on M-Plant.

"When you go to your stereo and turn on the tunes and all is working well with the speaker wire, then the sound is sweet, crisp and clear. You hear what the artist and producer intended for you to hear — and it’s a good and pleasant thing. 

However, if your speaker wire has a short in it, if it’s frazzled by a fray, then things might not go so well, and a clear connection could be lost. 

There are moments when that frayed wire may be in the perfectly placed position to still allow really solid sound to pass through. In that moment, the music is coming through loud and clear and you get to enjoy the groove. 

But then something shifts — even just a little, and suddenly that worn wire produces static (and maybe even sparks). The music’s still there, but with it is another competing noise — a sharp and crepitating noise — a noise that’s taken something pleasant and made it painful. 

All of a sudden something shifts again, and everything has gone from simple static to overwhelming and excruciating white noise. In the chaotic cacophony you find yourself reaching for the volume control in order to mute the mess because it hurts. 

Then things shift once more and the frayed wire is now in a position where nothing’s getting through. The connection has been lost and all is silent. The stereo itself is still making a melody, but that melody is trapped inside the machine and unknown to anyone on the outside."
