In conversation with Bakey:

- What sort of direction did you take with this mix? What sort of bits did you include and is this what we can expect from you when shows are back?

"In this mix I’ve compiled a bunch of unreleased n forthcoming tracks from myself and some of my favourite DJs, along with some other tracks I’ve been really liking recently ranging from 130-160 bpm. Honestly can’t wait till the events are up n running again and I can play out loads of music I been working on over the whole lockdown period"

- What sort of music have you been enjoying recently?

"Falling mad in love with the whole Broken Beat/ Bruk sound recently getting lot’s of inspiration from the likes of IG Culture n EVM128. Also really getting more n more into Dubstep & 140 stuff"


- What other interests do you have outside of music?

"To be honest, I don’t really have many. I am into my cooking at the moment, and I’m also a bit of a film fanatic but that’s about it"


- What should we me looking out for from you in the coming months?

"Got some very exciting projects coming out very soon including two collaborative tracks with Breaka on his label ‘BreakaRecordings’, a release with the Leeds-based label ‘Gimme A Break Records’, and finally a follow-up EP on ‘Time is Now’"

Freddie Baker AKA BAKEY has got to be one of the most influential young producers this side of the scene. His releases have been featured by UK giants @mixmag-1, he has almost 15,000 monthly Spotify listeners and he’s been getting support from some of the biggest underground names out there for a while now; @skeptical, @bigflowdan and @e5izco to choose a few.

@bakeymusic isn’t locked to one genre, with his guest mix for SOLITUDE truly expressing his talent with some crazy blends, HUGE dubplates and a bunch of features from fellow music heads. He effortlessly experiments through styles and pulls out selections that on paper don’t sound like they’d work, but when in the mix they sound nothing short of incredible. You gotta hear it to believe it.

He’s also the brother of @breakaleeds who is killing it right now. The two of them have just released "Pro Perc" and "Club Dynamics" two super crisp pieces of production that feature on Breaka’s upcoming EP "Breaka 003" – You don’t want to miss that one. Talk about talent running in the family.

P.S We don’t want to say too much… but you will probably see BAKEY on a SOLITUDE line-up towards the end of the year...

Bakey’s sharp production is matched by his finesse in the booth. Guest mixes on Rinse, Balamii, sable and Subtle have allowed Bakey to secure bookings across the UK, shutting down venues with 23 Degrees and Keep Hush. 

For his GAB guest mix, Bakey has chosen to weaponise his arsenal of unreleased material. Kicking things off with an acid-ridden soulful breakbeat number, Bakey smoothly navigates his way through dubstep-infused breaks and sinister 2step, to close with a couple of simply outrageous edits.
