[Moonlight Sonata] 3rd Movement - Opus 27 No. 2 - Beethoven

About a month ago I listened to and left some comments on this beautiful piece by Fivos Valachis: http://soundcloud.com/fivosvalachis/nocturnes-22-nov-promenades-en

Fivos asked if I can play it and I gave it a try. This is my interpretation of Fivos's original composition: first half I played it following the note sheet, second half I improvised on the same theme.

Adagio, de la Sonata para piano nº 14 en do sostenido menor "Quasi una fantasia" (casi una fantasía para clavecín o piano), Op. 27, nº 2, popularmente conocida como "Claro de Luna" o "Luz de Luna" (en alemán Mondscheinsonate), fue escrita por Ludwig Van Beethoven en 1801, y publicada en 1802. Compuesta y dedicada a la señorita condesa Giulietta Guicciardi, alumna de Beethoven, de quien se dice, estaba enamorado de ella. Se trata de una de las obras más famosas del autor, junto con el primer movimiento de la Quinta Sinfonía, la bagatela para piano "Para Elisa", y la Novena Sinfonía.

The Piano Sonata No. 11 in A major, K. 331 (300i), by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is a piano sonata in three movements. It is uncertain where and when Mozart composed the sonata; however, Vienna or Salzburg around 1783 is currently thought to be most likely (Paris and dates as far back as 1778 have also been suggested). The sonata was published by Artaria in 1784, alongside Nos. 10 and 12 (K. 330 and K. 332).

Movement Three - Rondo Alla Turca (Turkish March).

The last movement, "Alla Turca", popularly known as the "Turkish March", is often heard on its own and is one of Mozart's best-known piano pieces. Mozart himself titled the rondo "Alla Turca". It imitates the sound of Turkish Janissary bands, the music of which was much in vogue at that time.

Various other works of the time imitate this Turkish style, including Mozart's own opera Die Entführung aus dem Serail. In Mozart's time, the last movement was sometimes performed on pianos built with a "Turkish stop", allowing it to be embellished with extra percussion effects.
