Corymorpha is a genus of hydrozoans that resemble flowers. They typically feature a central stalk topped by a hydranth with tentacles and a mouth. Some species of corymorpha thrive in deep water and live in colonies, forming ‘abyssal flower meadows’. 

This track samples heart-filling commentary from a Nautilus Live reel (https://www.instagram.com/nautiluslive/). That said, it didn’t start as an ode to corymorpha; rather, a friend’s reaction to its early sound design sent it down an ocean current, and here we are 🦀🪼!

In the spirit of getting stuff out there and not have it exist solely on my desktop for eternity, here is the deep-sea flower for your streaming pleasure. At some point I intend to get help with the mix and release it properly. Until then, if you’d like the WAV just ask, and thanks for listening.

Corymorpha

"Origami" is a famous Japanese art of folding paper into a decorative figure, and is now also the fruit of the musical collaboration between Barcelona-based producer Ludviq and Australia-based multifaceted Poulper. 

Indeed, born from the recent time spent in the studio by both producers, their new EP testifies to the symbiosis between Bonkers Music´s Ludviq and Quixotical Records´Poulper. Together, they deliver the singles "Origami" and "Crystal Cactus", both tracks blending each producer's quintessential musical wizardry. In their new record, Ludviq´s dark psychedelic slow techno textures meet Poulper´s more atmospheric and deep organic layers, which sounds as enigmatic and thought-provoking as an original Japanese origami. 

After a first successful single release "Cosmovision" via Golden Soul Records in 2022, THISBE Recordings is delighted to release Ludviq & Poulper first collab EP, both on a limited vinyl edition and on all digital platforms. The record also includes remixes by Calypso Records´head Thomass Jackson and French proto house and new beat sensation Kubebe.

Vibe Quest is the debut solo album from long-time DJ and producer Sabo. More than three years in the making, the record represents the artist's own personal journey, navigating the egos and politics of the music business while searching for positive vibes, open-minded audiences, and musical experiences that transcend a typical night out.

In 2011, Sabo left New York City after 11 years and headed to Los Angeles, both in search of sunshine and to chase a dream of playing deep, mid-tempo tribal music to fresh young ears. At the time, the new sound was being called moombahton, a style essentially created by Nadastrom, Sabo, Munchi, and a handful of others. In its early days, this music was rhythmic, sexy, and unified the dance floor, but as its popularity and reach broadened, it developed into something increasingly electronic and aggressive. Amidst this evolution, Sabo felt a bit lost; as the origins and influences that originally shaped the music were increasingly being cast aside, and his own deep, organic tribal style resonating less and less with mainstream crowds.

Vibe Quest is post-moombahton, a deeper, spiritual version of the genre that first put Sabo on the map as an established producer. A big part of the album's genesis can be traced back to 2013, when Sabo's DJ set on the Robot Heart bus at Burning Man introduced his unique vision to a whole new audience. "My deep, slow tribal sound was finally understood by a whole community of open minded people," he says. "That was really the beginning of the Vibe Quest. From there, I knew I wanted to make a whole album expressing my different influences."

And the influences are many—Vibe Quest is a bouillabaisse of cultures, samples, and sonics simmering together for a 12-course meal of body-moving entrees. Cumbia combines with jazz on "Vibe Quest," the album's title track, and actually features Sabo's own Mom, a self-taught vibraphonist. Songs like "Singing Game," "Afro Fuego," "Coconut Matras," and "Grey Is the New Sunny" infuse pitched-down tech house rhythms with African chants. Minimal dembow rhythms link with Jamaican basslines and echo effects on "Mind Dub," Caribbean steel drums are plated with techno on "Force 4 Movement," Sabo's own vocals float atop analog, sub-heavy disco cuts like "Sure is Pure" and "Black Flowers," and South American folklore melds with deep house on "Timbiqui Hasta DC" and "Drop That."

"My intention with this record is to manifest moments of positive feelings on the dancefloor," says Sabo. "I want to continue traveling the world, instilling these positive feelings within people and creating something meaningful by unifying cultures and communities."

The cover artwork is designed by Helia Jamali to symbolize a portal into the sounds of Vibe Quest . The image of the centered sun creates a hypnotic entrance into the music. Let the Vibe Quest begin...

Release number 187 on Ready Mix comes from the brilliant and avant garde live electronic group, Holed Coin.

Brainchild of Spanish producer Jose Carlos Acal and vocalist Maria Garcia, Holed Coin fuse electronic sounds and sampling with live instruments to create a distinctive sound that sits somewhere between HVOB and The XX. For title track 'Clouds', Holed Coin showcase live double bass and guitar over sultry vocals and atmospheric digital textures to build a unique, mournful epic.

Fellow Spaniard MoM stays true to the original for his remix of 'Clouds', adding just enough weight on the bass and drums to move the track into dance-floor territory. 

Mexican producer MiRET uses powerful synth arpeggios and dubby bass to drive his subtle, slow burning version. 

Finally, Seville native Dixie Yure (aka Jazzler) ups the tempo and adds some bounce in his glitchy, off-kilter reworking.

Holed Coin's second original track 'Uiaju' also has a live feel, layering acoustic percussion with languid Eastern flourishes, emerging with a sound we can only describe as 'blunted in Bollywood'. 

Chilean producer Rodrigo Gallardo rounds out the package, slipping the somewhat trippy vocal atmospheres into a rolling, slow-mo deep house groover.
