Some times the music just magically comes out, and that is the case here with "Syria" by new Sol*Selectas artist Unders from Amsterdam. After several successful tunes above the 120 BPM mark on labels like Sincopat and Groove On, "Syria" was Unders' first attempt at slower grooves, and an accidental experiment that just "fell into place, and was automatic magic". Syria's current political unrest is all over the news and social media, and the story being painted is difficult to watch. Driven to create a song which goes against all the negative publicity, Unders says "between all the negativity, the more i looked into the situation, the country, its people and its culture, the more this track reminded me of so much beauty the media doesn’t portray." The song itself a slow minimal trip with chopped up guitar licks, a gorgeous flute sample that takes the listener to far off desert lands, and features the vocals of Veerle.  Satori is yet another up and coming producer from the Netherlands, gaining instant recognition sharing the stage and studio with Acid Pauli, and producing incredible tunes utilizing live instruments played by himself, and tastefully incorporating these with electronic elements. His remix preserves the original message of "Syria" lowering the BPM to an even more hypnotic 104 BPMs. Satori adds middle eastern strings and chords, swapping out the original vocal for a more Saharan inspired call, and even plays delicately with some acid sounds furthering the listeners journey.  
Both songs are meant to invoke peaceful images of Syria, and conjure up positive intention on the dance floor. Sol*Selectas is very excited to present the debut song "Syria" from Unders, and the amazing remix by Satori,  two artists from the Netherlands you would do well to keep your eyes and ears open to in 2016.

"ollie 303 uses an amazing voice sample to get into the hypnotizing vibe of this track. A short (but very effective and well put together) intro builds up into a serious drop. 

"The hats are really crisp and clear, I love how they flow around each other. The drop is real deep, the track immediately evolves into a spacious setting with a lot of dark elements confronting you which sounds dope. The low-end is straight weight, can’t add much more to it (other than that it reaches far in the sub-regions, nice control and varations on it – sick). The growls are dangerous not only because they confront you, but also because they appear at slight different interval every few bars, listen. The percussion is really on point as usual, loving that tambourine quite a lot. The drum patterns are nicely packed after the drop and further in the mix, sounding real tight and minimal! 

"The break is epic, nice very low sub from time to time, suddenly you hear the choirs and I’m fully hooked onto the track. Really nice sample use: everything sounds connected making it a dangerous and spacey track – sound to lose your mind."

Sol Selectas is pleased to welcome back French duo Amentia, with 2 original songs on the Conquête De l’Oued EP, which showcases  their unique take on organic tribal house music. 

The music tells the story of a man taking part in an indigenous “Invocation” ceremony. Hypnotized by medicine, in a dream like state, the percussion rattles his senes of reality, and guides him along a path filled with swirling winds, and heavy storm clouds. 

“Conquête De L'Oued “ is when the man awakes from the dream to find his horse, and rides through the desert valleys processing the lessons learned from the elders. Thirst almost overtakes his survival, but he no longer fears death, as the lucid journey has shown him the light. 

For the remix we welcome our German friend Noema, who has previously appeared on Summer Sol III, as well as the Vibe Quest Remix LP for Sabo. Noema takes a dirty disco approach and extends the original to an epic 10 minute journey. He focuses on the analog bass elements and creates a dance floor groove monster. On his Darb-i Dub version, he really strips things back, and takes out the melodic synths for a late night disco chugger. 

The artwork by Helia Jamali maps out the hallucinogenic adventure the lone horseman takes through the desert.

Sol Selectas presents “Mazlum” by Turkish artist Ali Kuru, which features 2 original tracks and a remix by Satori. 

Ali Kuru has a unique sound quality which perfectly combines raw analog instrumentation, with modern electronica, without sounding too polished, nor too forced. Mazlum begins with soothing wind instruments which lure us into another dimension of chirping birds, a funky bass line, and tribal drums. Suddenly the medicine takes hold, and we are twirling into a psychedelic state which borders on madness, but opens our third eye. The trip climaxes with acid guitar licks, and then the groove takes hold of us again, and the insanity begins to simmer, slowly taking us back to earth. 

For the remix of Mazlum we are very excited to welcome back Netherlands artist Satori.  - whose remix of “Syria” released on Sol Selectas 3 years ago, is now considered a classic of the desert tribal genre. For this remix he does not disappoint, focusing on the trippy analog strings,  and expanding them to create immeasurable excitement on the dance floor. As he filters the sounds in and out, he adds his own vocals and new guitar licks. The string parts add a distinct middle eastern vibe, but maintain the raw quality of the original tune. 

Donuk sounds like a Turkish psych band suddenly discovered 90s Chicago house.  Long cello notes, tribal layers, trumpets, and oud licks all combine with sounds of a jungle safari, to create a truly psychedelic adventure. The distorted vocals guide us to the furthest recesses of our minds, while the groovy baseline keeps your hips moving uncontrollably. 

The artwork by Helia Jamali takes us deep into a mystical valley of cosmic delights and eclipsed totalities, where your primal emotions rise up to the surface, and guide your path.

Sol Selectas presents Global Entry, a new compilation series which features 11 original tracks from various artists around the World. While our summer series focuses on the feel good summer time jams, this comp will be an outlet for the even deeper, psychedelic, left-field music, we receive from so many talented producers. The idea is we all enter a new musical dimension , through a unified global portal, a doorway which anyone from our planet is invited to access. The only requirement for admission is originality, emotion, and a funky groove. “Global Entry” grants the listener easy access to this pathway which leads us into the cosmos. 

On this first volume have music from Germany, Argentina, Italy, UK, Spain, Russia, Morocco, France, and Israel. We go from downbeat heartfelt melodies,  to wild disco, to energetic tribal, to desert grooves, to afro tech, to Balearic beach - all in one orbit. 

This comp series is a new outlet for Sabo to continue releasing incredible music that gets submitted for the label. While full EP’s are not always an option, this comp gives new up and coming artists, as well as established ones,  an opportunity and platform to share their audio vision, and to be heard by the larger dance music community.
