Mòo & Jo, ARKADYAN, Demayä - Desperado (Soul Of Zoo, SEVN (CA) Edit)

Reuxen hails from Pretoria, South Africa, and is a DJ, producer and sound engineer at the forefront of the Afro-house scene. He has already played on stage with some of the greats and has his own ethereal, atmospheric and emotional take, which he demonstrates here. The instrumental of ‘Darkness’ was made in 2020 - a very dark time for many in the music industry. In 2021, Karaph added her contribution to the track and pushed her emotional vocals forward to tell a sad tale of heartbreak. It sets a fantastic tone above the Afro house drums that is dark but beautiful alongside the sparse yet detailed piano that leads the atmospheric backdrop. Remixer Enoo Napa is an Afro-house legend and a producer of consistent anthems for the scene. He changes up the rhythm feel and adds an edge of abstraction, perfectly setting up the fragile vocals for a hypnotic ride. These are two more authentic Afro-house sounds from scene pioneers at connected.

Through stories, songs, and poetry, cultural heritage is passed down and preserved. Literally translating to “I want to live”, Quiero Vivir is a testament to how music is a both a lifeline for cultures across time and a conduit through which personal identity and a sense of belonging is expressed. Inspired by nomadic musicians in the Balkan states who, finding themselves out of work after the dwindling Ottoman Empire had no more use for its military bands in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, started up their own bands to fuse elements of military music with local folk traditions. 

A collaborative release from Lannka and ARKADYAN, Quiero Vivir is a celebration of brass instruments such as trumpets, tubas, and saxophones, with electronic sounds and percussive embellishments from darbukas, djembes and congas.

Sol Selectas presents “Farfasha”, the 1st solo EP from our friend Hot Oasis from Egypt, and featuring Persian legend Bahramji, as well as singer Aziza. This EP has 2 original songs, with a remix for each. 


“Farfasha” literally means happy, or to be in a good mood, and in 2019 Bahramji and Hot Oasis shared the stage at a friend's festival. They loved and respected each other’s music, so they kept in touch and later made this collaboration which features Bahramji playing santoor, and also singing. Hot Oasis created a fun bouncy break beat groove, to host Bahramji’s talents, and the song leans more towards Indie Dance. 

On the remix label head Sabo teams up Los Angeles based artist Sarkis Mikael, to create an upbeat organic house take on Farfasha, focusing on Bahramji’s beautiful vocals and elegant santoor riffs. 

“Ghazale” is a mid tempo organic track, featuring singer Aziza, and the title itself is Arabic slang for a “beautiful person”. Hot Oasis recorded Aziza while on a trip to Lebanon, and was inspired by her powerful vocals. 

On the remix, Egyptian friend A X L picks up the tempo and adds some intensity to the original, with wild Arabic keyboard solos, and energizing build ups. 

The cover art by Helia Jamali guides us through the staircase to the portal of light and happiness.
