It took a while dear friends but this summer it finally happened and I was in the line up for this year's FREE TREE Festival. It was a bombastic finale on the Sundowner Stage and rarely has a dance event been as pulsating and extatic as Friday night's finale. Thanks to Johann, the entire organization and the team that put together this great cross-style festival - love & respect. As a thank you, here is a memory of my mix for posterity :)

Erot never quite fit in with the rest of the collection. A name who deserves his own category.  At such a young age producing the most mature and otherworldly sounds. R.I.P. Mr Kroknes.

Tore Andreas "Erot" Kroknes, who passed away in 2001 at the age of just 23, was one of the house scene's most promising artists in the late 90's and early 00's. His pioneering deep, dubby sound was well documented on releases such as "Song For Annie" and remixes for artists like Bertine Zetlitz, DK, Kings of Convenience and Mental Overdrive, and he also produced the classic pop single "The Greatest Hit" for his girlfriend Annie. Erot was also an important figure in the music scene in his home town Bergen, DJing alongside Bjørn Torske on clubs such as Agora and Kennel and contributing extensively to the renowned Tellé label; among other things, he was their in-house designer, and the Tellé logo and all the early sleeves were done by him (as well as loads of logos and posters for other Norwegian artists).

Tore suffered from heart problems from birth, and tragically, this eventually demanded his life; in April 2001, he passed away after a prolonged illness.

Stephan Grieder of the Svek label said to burntblue.com: "Tore was the only guy I ever asked to do remixes for Svek. He was so original in the way he did things and with his sound. He had such a big future, and we were all very shocked. He was just starting to produce his own music rather than just doing remixes, and it was just the beginning for him. It was very sad".

His friend and colleague Bjørn Torske said this in an interview: "Tore wasn't only a close friend, but also a tremendous resource, both design-wise and musically. The process of making the sleeves, for example, has become so much more demanding now. All the knowledge and courage Tore had was an asset we don't have anymore. Without him, Tellé would never have existed".

The gatherings often take place in magical places and create a special atmosphere with lots of magic & playful installations. The former ASTRALZONE founder, dj and well known activist & creator is a passionate music lover who is involved in the Austrian Trance Scene for more than 20 Years. His fine taste for a wide range of different styles of Trance Music in the meantime brought him to appear @ international mainstages outside of Austria to rock the dancefloors with his unique note. Gobayashi´s unmistakeable style moves elegantly and masterly in and out of groovy kickin´ and hypnotic. At times his sound is psychedelic, organic or has mystic drive and at the break of the day can be also melodic and playful – always adjusting to the programm with superior ease

With his new project SHAMANTRA he delivers consequently organic ethno-tribal-delicatesses in the fields of Techno & Downbeat Music where he is a specialist for creating unique sound atmosphares and cineastic spaces – as dj, visualist and deco artist as well ;)

His music is a vibrant fusion of electronic and organic sounds, from Downtempo to Deep and Progressive, inspired by his passion for travel and deep connections to traditional, ancestral, and indigenous cultures around the world.

DJ since 2017 (11 countries - France, Germany, Spain (Ibiza & Mallorca), Belgium, Canada, Ukraine, Latvia, Italy, Switzerland, Panama, Romania).

Co-founder, event organizer (22 in Paris and its region) & artistic director during 4 years (2018-2022) of the collective @otawa-rec. 

He has organized his first Festival, Guru O'm Baya, from February 9 to 12, 2023 in Playa Venao, Panama.

Lately, he launch his multicultural project "world music samples" to allow composers and DJs to discover and use in their productions and / or mixes a wide range of samples collected over more than 15 years of research around the world.
