French superstars Chambord (@wearechambord)  join The Gardens Of Babylon with an exciting EP ‘Distant Time’. Remix support comes from Joep Mencke (@joep-mencke) and German Brigante (@german-brigante).

Paris based duo, Chambord have patiently raised their game over the last 3 years with releases on high profile labels such as Sol Selectas and Kindisch, cementing their growth with club and festival sets alongside the likes of Jamie Jones, Blond:ish and Acid Pauli. This release showcases the warm, energetic sound that is sound tracking dancefloors across the globe.

Opening with two original tracks, first up ‘Distant Time’ is a deep, melodic cut with rubbery bass, shuffling percussion and an epic vocal performance the echoes around your head. Crescendoing arps and warm keys playfully melt as emotional piano chords take the lead in the main break. ‘Red Moon’ opens to a tribal bass and sparse percussion. Growing organically, the piano again adds oodles of emotion as the melancholy plays out in real time.

On remix duties TGOB label mate, Joep Mencke returns with a haunting reimagination of ‘Distant Time’ that draws on the raw emotion of the original turning it into a deep, warm early floors wonderland. For his remix of ‘Distant Time’ Sol Selectas and Dirtybird regular, German Brigante constructs a filthy, saw-toothed analogue remix that the mighty Vangelis would be proud of!

Next up for The Gardens of Babylon, the super smooth sounds of Gab Rhome (@gabrhome) on the ‘I’ve Made The Bed For You’ EP ably supported by Francesca Lombardo (@francesca-lombardo), Baham (@bahamcollective) and Sorä (@sora-paris).

Canadian sensation Gab Rhone has come a long way since breaking onto the scene in 2013 with a release on Guy Gerber’s Supplemental Facts label. Starting out as a DJ in his hometown, it wasn’t long before his natural ability was recognised and he quickly progressed into the big leagues, with music now signed to everyone from Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream to Sasha’s Last Night On Earth.

Capturing those warm analogue feels with soft melody is a trademark for Gab, who unleashes more delight with opener ‘I’ve Made The Bed For You’. Groovy hats, a swinging bassline and sweet vocals make this a joy to hear from start to finish. On remix duties UK-based Francesca Lombardo deepens the groove for a late-night wig out, teasing the main motifs into a darker sound. Fellow Canadians, Baham, create a new atmosphere with their sparse, jazz-influenced take. Sombre muted trumpet and vocal word samples take this to new heights.

Moving on to their second original production, ‘Chandelier Cleaner, a disco-y bongo groove and saw-toothed bass lead the way. Vocodered vocals midway add a nice curveball for the more refined floors. Sora take a wholly different approach completely reimagining the track with tinkling arps and an air of hopefulness.

Birds of Mind is the collaboration of Parisian based duo Alex Heim & Adrian Carreno. The year was 1987, and the sun was setting down on the golden sands of Eastern Sierrra Leone, a small, but enthusiastic group of locals were gathering, high spirits and joyous laughter could be heard, and the assembled congregation began to express themselves through the divine coupling of dance and intoxicating drink.  At first the sound was distant, but as the cool evening breeze wafted in, the pulsating throb of drums and rhythmic percussion grew louder, crystalline melodies floated inwards, and the burgeoning crowd began to dance with vigor and vitality.  It was at this point that I was approached, almost caught unaware, as a porcelain figured girl, with long black hair, beauty like I had never seen before, came right up to me, her eyes wide and full of expectancy, drilling straight into my own pupils.  She held out her hand, so small it really dwarfed my own, and a small red pill rolled gently in the very dip of her palm.  Her lips un-pursed as she raised herself slightly onto tip toe, and whispered into my ear, “would you like to share this with me?”…….

We couldn’t get enough of the legendary Bonga’s 70’s classic, and just a few months after we
released Pablo Fierro’s remix, we invite Everything Counts to center stage to render their own
interpretation. And of course, the Swiss duo delivered. Swelling on body-binding rhythm and
groove that envelop Bonga’s soulful saudade-saturated lyrics, Toshka and Chris Leon bridge
Jose Adelino Barcelo de Carvelho’s ardent emotions then with the ongoing now, preserving its
timelessness, as their percussion-rich instrumentals, complemented with and augmented by
subtle electronic tweaks resonate Bonga’s rasp so precisely, the Angolan’s vocal timbre vibrates
shivers to our core. Tenderness aside, Everything Counts keeps the temperatures high with this
