Pirmoji istorija prasideda su ½ LOW HEIGHTS vakarėlių serijos atstovu – Gediminas. Asmeniškai susipažinome tiktai savaitė prieš „Tropico“ festivalį, nes teko kartu groti naujame „V98” klube Palangoje. Nuo pat pirmos akimirkos atrodė, jog būtume pažįstami jau ilgą laiko tarpą, tad iki šiol labai gerai sutariam. Man visada buvo įdomus Gedimino muzikos skonis, visada turintis tam tikrą kryptį ir visada žinantis kokią dainą butent šią akimirką paleisti. Išgirdęs šią idėją, jis iškart sutiko ir susuko šį nerealios selekcijos mixą (Pats asmeniškai klausiau 5 kartus iš eilės).

Prieš kiekvieną mixo postinimą nusprendžiau paklausti atlikėju poros klausimų:

Kokie pagrindiniai faktoriai tavo gyvenime privedė prie elektroninės muzikos scenos?

Gediminas : Labiausiai įtakojo tėvas, kuris mane mažą supažindino su muzika, o skonis per daugelį metų išsivystė savaime. Tais atradimais norisi dalintis su žmonem.

Kas įkvepia tave kurti savo stiliaus muziką scenoje ir už jos ribų?

Gediminas: Įkvepia tas geras jausmas, aplankantis išgirdus tave paliečiančius garsus, norisi jais pasidalinti su kitais, kurie galbūt neskiria tiek dėmesio muzikai, ar neturi tam laiko. Didžėjai klauso ne tik šokių muziką. Šią mintį turėdamas draugužis Mantas nusprendė išvesti iš komforto zonos ir paskatino įrašyti selekciją to, kas labiau intymu ir mažiau išgirstama šokių aikštelėj. Kiekviena daina selekcijoje man turi savo istoriją. Tai nenuspėjama ir įvairi. Tikiuosi rasite patinkančių garsų.

Manau puikesnio žmogaus atidaryti naujai mixu serijai nebūtų įmanoma surasti. Tad įsitaisome ir klausom:

From "Tropico" to "Flamingo".

Recently I had a lot of free time which led me to new thoughts, ideas and projects. In the last two years I had the honour to meet a lot of amazing artists in different party series and had many discussions about electronic music. We all know basic DJ’s skills in clubs - how they introduce themselves to public, what kind of energy they create and how they can interact with different audiences. In this mix series I'm focusing on the other side of their personality - their "Guilty pleasure" and which music they play at home, when nobody is around them. When the DJ mixer is replaced by the cooking gear.

Let me introduce you to "Flamingo Lounge Stories".

Flamingo Lounge Stories #1 – YOUWIN.

First story begins with 1/2 of LOW HEIGHTS party series representative - Gediminas. In person we met only one week before the festival "Tropico". We had an opportunity to play together at the new club in Palanga called "V98". From the first moment we met I felt like we had already known each other for a while. Immediately I got fascinated by Gediminas music taste, it always has a specific direction and he always knows the perfect moment when to play the right track. After sharing the idea with him, he was more than pleased to start the series for me and made this amazing selection mix (I have played it at least 10 times by now).

I think I could not find a better person to open the series.

Antroji istorija prasideda nuo “Juodųjų pinigų” rezidento – Linas aka DJ Pinigai aka Cash Money. Jeigu atvirai, išgirdęs šį DJ pseudonimą pirmą kartą labai skeptiškai nusiteikiau, tačiau išgirdęs mixą supratau, jog šį vaikiną išgirsime visur labai dažnai. Lo-fi House skambesys, disco elementai, tobulai tinkantys įvairiom aplinkom, nuo intensyvios klubo nakties iki ankstyvo ryto laivo vakarėlio.

Kokie pagrindiniai faktoriai tavo gyvenime privede tave prie elektronines muzikos scenos?

Linas - Mane labai žavi underground’as. Ypač tai, kad po storu sluoksniu šūdinos muzikos, slepiasi unlimited kiekis nuostabių garsų, kuriuos tereikia atrasti.

Kaip apibudintum mixa kuri atsiuntei? Ar tai klausai namie?

Linas - Miksą galėčiau pavadinti nostalgijos bomba. Šiaip dažnai mano soundtrackas varijuoja priklausomai nuo metų laiko. Rudenį - Žiemą playlistuose sukasi labiau raw muzika, tai ir atsispindi šiame selectione.

Labai ko daugiau ir nepridėsiu, tad įsitaisom ir klausomės pinigų slaptosios kolekcijos.

Really happy to introduce this artist to the series. A resident at the famous Lizdas club, living in Kaunas and creating not casual party series.

Abdalla 'Cheh' Chahine always had a clear direction in his production and mixes. That is why I was curious what he will provide while being beyond his comfort zone and I can say, it feels like a complete 1hour movie with different emotions from beginning to the end.

Riga's underground scene has been the biggest mystery for me. Although after talking with Vadims Pitlans I understood, that the scene is becoming more active and is creating is own unique style. Trashy kid is a well-known name in Vilnius and has been playing and hosting events in his hometown for a while now.

I remember a couple of years ago I had an opportunity to hear his high energy - crazy dancing set at minimal Mondays. The African house vibe mix with weird disco sounds kept me dancing through his set non-stop. This time we will hear his home listening side, which he usually keeps for himself.

"The mix is dedicated for your hangover, sunbathing or stoned sex environment aka lazy Sundays."

The autumn is coming, clubbing season is starting, everyone is preparing to come back to their beloved basements/venues/locations.

During this transition period from the festival season, me and my beloved partner in crime Elena Ryškutė decided that is time to start a new season of Flamingo Lounge Stories. For the first mix, I got reached out by our neighbour from Latvia Elviss Zants. It was the first time for me hearing his selection, and I was wonderfully surprised by his music. I wanted to know him better and understand what shaped his music taste throughout the years. 

After an inspiring conversation, I understood that Riga's scene is improving slowly and it's getting its own identity which is interesting to observe because now as said by very own Elviss words it is in "child-like state" and their building the scene from the ground zero. At the moment there is only one properly functioning venue for electronic events, which makes only harder for younger talents to get exposed for a broader audience.

Coming back to Elviss, he is one of the key figures from Riga's underground and has been composing music in various shapes - edits and versions of existing things and music made by other artists, his own weird music and making soundtracks for movies or contemporary dance performances. Truly an inspiring person.

Long-awaited mix by one of my favorite personal artists.

I have been following Mateo since my first steps into electronic music and even till today, I'm fascinated by his own unique style and production.

Guitar and dark synths with mysterious and trippy sounds can be heard from the first seconds of the mix together with unique influences from the past.

The artist himself has established two different projects - Theus Mago and Bufi and has been working with his own Duro label and winding the spectrum of their own unique sound to the rest of the world.

Enjoy this trippy and energetic mix which is perfect for your dark Monday after a long weekend.

With the new SLTC chapter we are also happy to introduce you to a new mix series.

Who would be a better invite if not our close family member - @zvd_94. Born in family of musicians, Zach always stands out with his sharp ear for mixing. Would be impossible to count how many people he helped to understand the basics of DJ’ing and gave strong ground structure to start improving the craft. 

The last few years he was mostly concentrating on organising and managing events, although he was still digging and collecting the records constantly. After we heard he is ready to get back on a track and start playing again, we immediately knew that we would love to have him open our musical series.

Netikėtas projektas, kuris prasidėjo kaip tiesiog smagus tėvo ir sūnaus laiko praleidimas ir hobis, po truputį tampa rimtu užsiemimu ir veikla. Mindaugas supažindino Mantą su elektronine muzika jau nuo mažų dienų, pasakodamas apie įvairius atlikėjus, alternatyvios ir neįprastos muzikos kaupimo svarbą ir jos vertinimą. Kadangi tėvai įsimylėjo klubinę kultūrą nuo ankstyvų jaunystės dienų ir reguliariai lankėsi legendiniame Vilniaus klube “Gravity” bei keliaudovo į turistines klubines keliones į Prahą, natūralu, jog Mantas pradėjo domėtis klubine kultūra nuo labai ankstyvaus amžiaus.

Po visų netikėtų ir įvairių muzikinių patirčių festivaliuose ir vakarėliuose, Mantas Ir Mindaugas aka MPII nusprendė pradėti naują eletroninės muzikos projektą ir groti kartu savo malonumui ir geram laiko praleidimui - tai ir yra svarbiausia.

Unexpected project, which started as a fun father and son music session is now starting to become a serious (but still very fun) movement. Mindaugas introduced Mantas to electronic music when Mantas was very young. He talked to him about various artists and how important it is to collect alternative and unusual music records. Mantas parents fell in love with clubbing culture from their young days and so they regularly visited the legendary Vilnius club ‘Gravity’ and went on touristic clubbing trips to Prague. It is only natural that Mantas started to find passion for clubbing culture from a very young age. 

After all the crazy and unusual experiences at festivals and parties, Mantas and Mindaugas aka MPII decided to start a new electronic music project and play together for pleasure and leisure as it’s the most important thing.

Let us introduce a fast and melodic selection in which MPII have mixed some old school house, dub house and techno genres.

We start our week with a freshly baked SLTC recording. 

We received a lovely 2hours mix from good friend and clubbing expert - @jacobus-taco-van-winkoop. Being representative of Van Winkoop Clan,  he is widely known for his never-ending energy and ability to start a party in any situation easily. In 2013 Taco started attending various raves. One time his brother Thijs took him to legendary club @trouwamsterdam and that was the breakthrough moment in his life. After the first time in the club, he knew that he wants to work in music industry. He started to collect records ever since and for the last 2 years has been working on his own production daily. 

In the mix you can expect a lot of karate kicks, flips and other unexpected movement combined with smooth melodic transitions.

Nuostabiai jaučiantys aplinką, mėgstantys monotonišką ir niekada nesibaigiantį garsą. Nors jie tik pradeda savo projektą, jo vertę scenoje jau galime ryškiai matyti. Gausiai sukaupta vinilu kolekcija rodo stropią selekciją, į kurią investuota daug laiko. Tą jie įrodo ir mums atsiųstame mix’e. Dvi valandos kelionės į gilų ir melodingą pasaulį.

Today we are continuing our recording series with party animals - Freks. Our friends who are working at legendary @bretamsterdam - crazy day time party place and late after-hours hotspot. We met these guys exactly there. They have a perfect feeling of the environment and like to enjoy more of monotonic and never-ending sound. Although they just started their project, they are strongly proving their spot in the scene. Their wide vinyl collection shows diligent selection and long time investment. The mix shows the results of their time and dedication just as described. Two hours trip to deep and melodic world.

After a small break we are back and we are ready for our lovely SLTC series. Kartais tiesiog sunku patikėti, kaip viena naktis gali suformuoti tavo visą muzikinį skonį. Lygiai prieš 2 metus apsilankėme garsiąjame De School klube, HET Weekend vakarėlių serijoje, kuri vyko nuo šeštadienio vakaro iki pirmadienio ankstyvo ryto. Ten, kaip visada, užėjome savo mėgstamiausiu laiku - sekmadienio popiete, kada saulė leidžiasi atlikejui grojant. Tuo metu už pulto stovėjo dar mum visai nežinoma atlikėja - k.atou. Iki šiol eina šiurpuliai vien pagalvojant apie visą setą. Dar taip stipriai šokti niekad neteko. Nuo to laiko visas susidomėjimas minimalistiniu žanru tiktai stiprėjo, taip pat, kaip ir noras daugiau sužinoti apie atlikėją. Teko išklausyti visus mixus, podcastus ir su kiekvienu klausymu likti vis labiau nustebintiem. Kai tik pradėjome savo įrašų seriją, k.atou buvo vienas pirmųjų žmonių, su kuriuo iš karto susisiekėme ir paprašėme įrašyti mixą. Šiandien gavome galutinį rezultatą, kuris išpildė ir perpildė visus lūkesčius. Pristatome 1 valandos linkėjimus tiesiogiai iš Atėnų:

Sometimes it is hard to believe how much one night can influence your musical taste. Exactly 2 years ago we visited the famous De School club and went to HET Weekender party which used to start on Saturday night and finish on Monday morning. As usual, we went to the party on a Sunday afternoon when you can watch the sunset while the artist is playing. At the time, behind the decks there was k.atou - we didn’t really know her back then. We are still getting goosebumps just thinking about the whole set. We never danced so hard in our whole lives. After that moment our interest in minimal music genre just got stronger and we were striving to know more about the artist. We listened to every mix and podcast and we were getting more and more facinated. When we started our mix series, we knew she will be one of the first ones we will make contact and ask to record us a mix. Today we received the final result which was even more than we expected. We present to you 1hour greetings directly from Anthens:

We are learning from the beginning to really hear and enjoy music. We are looking for new colours and sounds. Looking for positivity and motivation to create. Music has never let us down when looking salvation.

We are starting 2021 with the 10th episode of our series. This time sound waves are coming from our Lithuanian seaside, from a legendary Pakhauz resident Gabrielė.  The selection is perfect for our current slow and wintery mood.

Atrodo, kad jau esame išvydę ir išklausę šimtus skirtingų tiesioginių DJ transliacijų, tačiau elektoninė muzika tuom ir žavi, visada sugebi surasti kažką naujo. Taip paprastai ir atradome šiuo vaikinus, todėl be jokių abejonių iškart ir pasiūlėme įrašyti mums miksą.

Solstice yra elektroninės muzikos renginių kompanija, kurios tikslas - organizuoti renginius ir skatinti klausytojus praplėtsi muzikos skonio ribas, susipažinti su elektroninės muzikos stiliais, mažiau pažįstamais šioje srityje.

Solstice savo veiklą pradėjo kaip atlikėjų agentūra, tačiau nuo šiol veikla keičiasi į renginių organizavimą. Kompanijos tikslas - pateikti geriausios kokybės produkciją. Penkerių metų sukaupta patirtis dirbant ir atlikėjais ir organizatoriais padeda mums labiau suprasti klausytojo bei atlikėjo poreikius, šitaip garantuojant geriausią pasirodymą.

Solstice įkūrėjų Manto Pivoriūno ir Elenos Ryškutės tikslas yra sukurti saugią ir džiaugsmingą atmosferą atlikėjams ir renginio dalyviams.
Solstice nuolat ieško naujų bendraminčių, kurie nori pristatyti savo idėjas Lietuvai ir pasauliui.

Solstice is an independent platform which is creating unusual electronic music experiences and guides the participant to push the taste boundaries in to unexpected directions.

Solstice started as a booking agency, but is now changing to event organisation. The goal of the company is to assure the best quality production that has been perfectioned over 5 years of global experience. By having experience from artists perspective playing in a club and as organisers - hosting artists, Solstice understands how to fulfil wishes of the artist and the listener and how to guarantee the best performance.

Founded by Mantas Pivoriūnas & Elena Ryškutė whose goal is to keep close family feeling with the artists and the party attendants, create a safe and special environment where people can feel safe and confident to express themselves and share the passion for electronic music.
