Whhaaamm! Bam!  Kapow! To the Batcave!  In Basement Batman's case, their 'Batcave' is their basement studio in Bushwick where the band has just completed their debut album, 'Season 1'.  Basement Batman is doing things a bit different than most, bringing you 'Season 1' in 4 different episodes over the coming months.  These aren't some crime show CSI episodes, though...they're more along the lines of Breaking Bad - showing you the extreme diversity of the band and its influences with each episode.  With musical influences ranging from The Beatles to Kanye, drums from Hip Hop's golden-age, and their parents' disco records you can really see what Basement Batman is all about.

“Be Good or Be Careful” (prod. by Nima Skeemz) serves as a goodbye letter to those near Sol as he prepares for a 9-month globetrotting journey. This is released in anticipation of his "P.S. EP" with production by The Zillas, a production team consisting of band members Elan Wright (“Ugly Love”) and Nima Skeemz (“2020” & “Stage Dive”).

Sydney indie-artpop-rock powerhouse, Dappled Cities, will return this 3rd August with their highly-anticipated fourth album, ‘Lake Air’. The record constitutes the first release on HUB The Label: the new partnership between HUB Artist Services and Inertia.

The announcement follows the enormous success of Dappled Cities’ first single, “Run With The Wind”, which dominated radio airwaves and sponsored a colossal East Coast tour.

Conceived while living in London and three years in the making, ‘Lake Air’ is wild, breezy, thrilling, lofty and anything but ordinary. Shedding the imposing and complex sonic layers of their 2009 breakthrough ‘Zounds’, the new album showcases a sublime clarity with a sparser, loftier sound than ever before. Lyrics are sincere, arrangements are dizzying, and the results are revelatory.

Beginning the journey with the epic “Run With The Wind”, the album navigates between the heartfelt (“Love Connection”, "Work In The Mould", “Lake Air”) and the downright danceable (“Born At The Right Time”, “The Leopard”).  If ‘Zounds’ was the sound of a Dappled Cities growing up, then ‘Lake Air’ is the rediscovery of their youth, the reordering of their ambitions and their subsequent reflections on life, death and family.

“The journey of this album was long and difficult, but the music that came out of it is so full of joy and happiness” says vocalist, Tim Derricourt.

Forming in their teens, Dappled Cities have experienced a meteoric rise over the past decade, leading to three acclaimed full-length albums: 2004’s ‘A Smile’, 2006’s ‘Granddance’ and 2009’s ‘Zounds’. Amongst countless accolades, all three records earned Triple J’s coveted Feature Album spot, with the latter two gathering rave write-ups from critical institutions such as Pitchfork and Stereogum. At home, the band have previously toured with the likes of TV On The Radio, Death Cab For Cutie and LCD Soundsystem, and played countless festivals including Harvest, Laneway, Big Day Out andSplendour In The Grass.

'Lake Air' was recorded in various sessions across Paris, Los Angeles and Sydney and is the first album co-produced by the band themselves with young US Producer Jarrad Kritzstein. 'Lake Air' was mixed by Englishman Cenzo Townshend who has variously honed the sound for artists as diverse as Bloc Party, Florence + The Machine, Interpol and New Order.

“It's everything we've ever been,” says Derricourt. “It’s got experimentation, wildness and melody. It gives me the sense that I get every now and again that we could keep doing this for another 20 years – or more.”
