Tièmoko Koné is a New Zealand‑based DJ and producer with Afro‑German roots, known for a hypnotic, minimal sound built on deep grooves and immersive soundscapes. His releases on labels including MALöR, Drawner, R3VOLUTION, and his own imprint HYPLOCITY have earned support from artists such as DVS1, Marrøn, and Justine Perry.

This mix brings together tracks that have recently caught his attention, blended with a classic two‑deck approach that leans into groove and atmospheric depth while exploring a range of moods. Recorded at Keepsakes’ place in Christchurch — reportedly the only spot in town with a Xone DJ mixer — it’s a snapshot of his current inspirations.

Sara had her first performance in front of a larger audience in February 2021. Initially, she focused around fast and hard varieties of techno with a bit of a trancy vibe. After some time, she turned towards lighter but not slower sounds. Currently, she draws her main inspirations from the French scene and a fairly young variety of groove techno, a delicate, fast paced kick intertwined with numerous sounds. She contributes to the scene through Theia Crush, a relatively new project through which she can implement numerous ideas related in broad sense organization of events.

VARIA is pleased to present the next episode in its podcast series, featuring Confusion.

Confusion is a producer and resident DJ of Raserei. His dancefloor-oriented sound is defined by highly effective rhythms, minimalist synths, and trippy pads or textures that traverse various tempos and subgenres while maintaining a consistent and immersive energy. Drawing on his roots as a drummer and the evolving landscape of techno over the decades, he also finds inspiration in ambient soundscapes, IDM, and other experimental electronic styles.

Since 2017, Confusion has been shaping the regional techno scene in Mannheim and its surroundings. His trajectory soon expanded to institutional clubs such as Tresor Berlin and RSO. As co-host of a visionary event series at Disco Zwei, he has been instrumental in bringing forward-thinking artists to the local scene. Alongside the club nights, the Raserei residents also launched a record label of the same name, extending their collective vision beyond the region.

In recent years, his artistic focus has expanded toward producing his own stripped-down yet timeless techno. Following his debut release, he put out his first vinyl on the esteemed SK_eleven label, run by Setaoc Mass, as part of the SKX series. His tracks have since gained support from key figures including DVS1, Luke Slater, Rødhåd, Rene Wise, Philippa Pacho, Marrøn, Blue Hour, and Quelza, with plays at iconic venues such as Berghain, KHIDI, Bassiani, Basement, FOLD, and Radion.

This episode continues VARIA’s mission: championing considered electronic expression and lasting artistry.

A new collection of otherworldly transmissions from Deepchord’s laboratory. With "Ultraviolet Music", Deepchord returns to his proprietary formula of atmospheric heroin-house (after 2013's more cinematic "20 Electrostatic Soundfields"). A hallucinogenic amalgamation of deep emotive textures swimming around 4/4 kicks and sub-bass, middle of the night atmospheres, hypnotic repetitions, shortwave static and slowly evolving textures that envelop the listener in warm blankets of sound. Equally effective on a dance floor as it is in one's private space. Multi-dimensional sounds that move the mind and the feet. Numerous (processed) acoustic and organic sound sources make these tracks seem alive in a way that is uncommon in electronic music today. They are breathing life-forms that reveal their subtle layers with repeated listenings. It’s music that's influenced equally by 1980's experimental, 1990's ambient, Detroit techno, deep house, and Berlin school, creating something entirely unique in the process. State of the art low-tech electronica.

After the unprecedented success of the opening of the unique ‘Soma Track Series’, Stuart & Orde are back in business with pure, thundering Techno packed full of soul and a vision that sees them take Soma into 2016.

Title track ‘Parallel Phase’ wastes no time in crashing though the speakers as steam train drums and 
pulsing rhythmic tones serve as the back bone of this driving, dance floor orientated weapon. ‘Shadow Art’ combines perfectly held drones, evolving pads and subtly dubbed percussion against another solid groove as Slam really delve deep on this one. The duo brings out another heavy hitter in ‘Morass’ that utilises perfectly matched rhythms in the low end and synth hook creating tension with every build. Slam round of this storming EP with the gentle yet powerful ‘Contour’. A warping baseline fluctuates amongst swarms of glistening high end and straight up percussion creating an immersive, subterranean sound.

With a whole lot more in the pipeline, Slam make a bold start to the new year with this expertly crafted EP showing full control over all the Techno elements.
