Chilean based producer Diego Oroquieta returns to Soma for his 2nd full release with the 'Aquadance' EP. Armed with 4 uniquely produced and distinct tracks, Oroquieta moves easily between warping and hypnotic sounds to more tougher and abrasive material.

'I Finished My Homework' is a relentless, drum heavy opener that leans on a hard hitting and continuous rhythm as title track 'Aquadance' takes a deeper, hypnotic route with pulsating, warping synths creating a dark tension throughout. 'La Serpiente Perdio Su Rumbo' once again brings Oroquieta’s tougher sound, as pounding drums back looped out synths before 'Amazing Dance' closes out the release with distorted and unyielding power.

Run by Daniele Serraino, also known as D/n, Spazio Magnetico is a Berlin-based underground techno label and podcast series that focusses on dark, hypnotic techno, dub, IDM, and ambient music.

In addition to releasing on his own label, Spazio Magnetico, D/n has a back catalogue including Black Water Label, Eduardo De La Calle's Analogue Solutions, and [R]3volution. His captivating, vinyl-driven DJ sets, which range from experimental to hypnotic and raw techno, are another key aspect of his growing reputation.

For this DT:Premiere we selected "Resonant Shift" is an atmospheric and mechanical beast. The raw percussion and dystopian style combine for an epic sound design trip, where crashing hats ride over lashing electrical pulses for a masterful lesson in tension.

VARIA is pleased to present the next episode in its podcast series, featuring Confusion.

Confusion is a producer and resident DJ of Raserei. His dancefloor-oriented sound is defined by highly effective rhythms, minimalist synths, and trippy pads or textures that traverse various tempos and subgenres while maintaining a consistent and immersive energy. Drawing on his roots as a drummer and the evolving landscape of techno over the decades, he also finds inspiration in ambient soundscapes, IDM, and other experimental electronic styles.

Since 2017, Confusion has been shaping the regional techno scene in Mannheim and its surroundings. His trajectory soon expanded to institutional clubs such as Tresor Berlin and RSO. As co-host of a visionary event series at Disco Zwei, he has been instrumental in bringing forward-thinking artists to the local scene. Alongside the club nights, the Raserei residents also launched a record label of the same name, extending their collective vision beyond the region.

In recent years, his artistic focus has expanded toward producing his own stripped-down yet timeless techno. Following his debut release, he put out his first vinyl on the esteemed SK_eleven label, run by Setaoc Mass, as part of the SKX series. His tracks have since gained support from key figures including DVS1, Luke Slater, Rødhåd, Rene Wise, Philippa Pacho, Marrøn, Blue Hour, and Quelza, with plays at iconic venues such as Berghain, KHIDI, Bassiani, Basement, FOLD, and Radion.

This episode continues VARIA’s mission: championing considered electronic expression and lasting artistry.

Along with its owner Ricardo Garduno at the forefront, the Mexican imprint Illegal Alien has created some of the best techno around. Perc, Stanislav Tolkachev, Xhin, and Brendon Moeller have all been featured on the label.

MasCon is an established producer with works on Bas Mooy's Mord, PWCCA's Inducted Waves, Syntax Error's Snork Enterprises, and Oliver Rosemann's Recorded Things.

For this DT:Premiere we selected "Spezialeinheit" with a gritty, raw, and cyclical sound. A dark, tense atmosphere sets the scene with shuffling percussion and hypnotic chopping sounds, while the mesmerising plucking synths help create a dystopian experience.

Soma are proud to present the debut album from one of Techno’s most prolific and renowned producers, TENSAL. As one half of the duo Exium, Hector Sandoval has already carved out a career in Techno spanning over 20 years, with countless releases on their self-run Nheoma, Warm Up Recordings & Pole Group, to name but a few. In 2014, he started the TENSAL project as an outlet for his own productions which allowed him the scope of pursuing the more direct and minimalistic approach with his music and also his Dj’ing. After hooking up with the Soma camp in early 2017 and releasing a collection of well-refined singles, Tensal delivers his debut album, Graphical. Searching to go beyond the realm of standard Techno, TENSAL lends his considerable production experience to this project and creates a sophisticated and immersive album experience that flows gracefully between IDM and Techno. 

With the more stripped back approach at the forefront of the project, Belga gives us an insight of what to expect from the album; a refined sequence and melodic element build gracefully and hypnotically, ending abruptly to leave you wanting more. Santolaya picks things up and brings with it a more pensive and exploratory view before the droning and atmospheric Roj0 leans on a decidedly more experimental side. Aimed at bringing tension to the project, Convulsa’s waves of sub bass and syncopated percussion set the tone for a pulsing and edgy affair. Tensal brings 4x4 into play with Polariex. Slow paced yet staunch in it’s approach, a gritty synth hook stands as the backbone. A more hypnotic approach on EgoAio looks to bring in the standard Tensal sound but as always, new and experimental sounds are at the forefront. Closing out the album, the focus begins to shift to a more dance floor orientated attitude. Zomb is a quintessential DJ tool, drawing on the power of restraint, as its gradual swells create perfect cohesion throughout. P R U V I 4 continues the ongoing theme of tension as multi layered hooks surge forth against a backdrop of forceful drums and undulating noise. Tensal ends his debut LP on a high with the punishing Mimix. Pounding kicks and twisted, tripped out synths are driven in intensity with chopping high hats that slice through with vigour. 

With Graphical, Tensal has constructed a body of work that is more than the sum of its parts; easily and intelligently displaying his production prowess by crafting a sonically accomplished album.
