Funken wirbeln durch die Nacht, weg vom Feuer, in die Freiheit. „Funkenflug“ ist ein Dub des Songs „Freiheit“ von Putschversuch, der im Rahmen des Projektes „Dreisamlibellen“ des P.A.K.T e.V. entstanden ist:
„Dreisamlibellen ist ein Film über Wasser, gewaltfreie Proteste und Freundschaft. Der Film fordert Veränderung und Klimagerechtigkeit und stärkt den respektvollen Umgang mit der Natur und dem Wasser.“

„Freiheit“ hat dabei eine ganz besondere Entstehungsgeschichte: Der Song wurde von Putschversuch gemeinsam mit Kindern mit und ohne Fluchterfahrung produziert. Der Text spiegelt die Sehnsucht der Kinder nach Freiheit, Luftholen, Nachvornblicken und Loslegenwollen wider und büßt gerade in heutiger Zeit nicht an Aktualität ein.  Wir alle sind Feuerfunken!

Hailing from Jordan but with a singular approach to electronic music that has won them fans the world over, Fairplay could soon be making a claim as your new favourite duo. Releasing on labels like Kindisch, Stil Vor Talent and Bar 25 their approach favours organic sounds, often focussing on the trippy and the obscure, to create deeply layered, spellbinding productions.

Formed of Faisal and Fuad who met in their native Jordan before moving to study in the UK and USA, the duo started out promoting their Kollective Music parties, which welcomed electronic stars like Phonique, DJ T., Subb-An and Mihai Popoviciu. Buoyed by the success of these events they formed Fairplay and started Djing and producing together. 

From the very start the music they made had always been deep, unpredictable and evocative, with Fairplay often incorporating Middle Eastern and Arabic sounds and instruments into their productions. A love of both nature and their experiences at festivals like Burning Man has shaped the grooves and melodies of Fairplay, resulting in music that feels contemplative, even as it propels you onwards.

After moving to Berlin Leandra found her way to a first visit in a techno club real quick. Fascinated by the melodic and moving sounds, she is always on the hunt for new inspirations and thereby discovers the musical complexity of the scene for herself. That inspires her to play music by herself. She started with Disco and Deep House but grew into groovy Tech House and Minimal Dark Tech.

1. Wie lange legst du nun schon auf und was hat dich dazu bewegt, anzufangen? 

Leandra: ...Ende 2017 kurzerhand das günstigste DJ-Equipment auf dem Markt zulegte und dem Ganzen eine letzte Chance geben wollte. Da hat mich der Ehrgeiz plötzlich gepackt und aus der Schnapsidee wurde eine Leidenschaft. Damals noch in Barcelona lebend, wurschtelte ich mich durch die Technik durch und lernte schnell, was zu tun war. Die Erfolgserlebnisse gaben mir immer mehr Highs und da wusste ich, dass dieses Hobby nicht von kurzer Dauer bleiben würde. Das Gefühl, das man beim Auflegen von Musik erlebt, vor allem mit einem belebenden Publikum, ist für mich das Unbeschreiblichste, das ich je hatte, immer und immer wieder.

2. Wie war dein erster Auftritt vor Publikum?

Leandra: Mein erster Gig vor Publikum fand 2019 in der Minimal Bar statt, für mich ein unvergessliches Erlebnis. Die Nächte davor habe ich vor Aufregung nicht besonders gut geschlafen, gleichzeitig freute ich mich darauf mehr, als ein kleines Kind auf seinen Geburtstag. Zu meiner Freude kamen einige Freunde, die mich dabei unterstützen. Nach kurzer Zeit verschwand die Nervosität zum Glück, sodass ich das Erlebnis in vollen Zügen genießen und mit meinen liebsten zelebrieren konnte. Nach wenigen Monaten des Übens bereits vor Leuten spielen zu dürfen, hat mich unfassbar stolz gemacht und ist definitiv eine der schönsten Erinnerungen meines Lebens.
Etwa ein Jahr später hatte ich die Ehre, bei einem gut besuchten Open Air spielen zu dürfen. Zu Beginn bin ich...

3. Was wünschst du dir, sollte in Zukunft in unserer Szene anders laufen?

Leandra: Im Großen und Ganzen bin ich der Szene sehr dankbar dafür, was sie mir bisher ermöglicht und für großartigen Rückhalt im Leben geboten hat. Sie hat in den letzten Jahren einen wichtigen Stellenwert für mich eingenommen. Da ich die Szene erst vor 6 Jahren für mich entdeckt und lieben gelernt habe, würde ich sie im Kern gar nicht ändern wollen, natürlich gibt es aber immer Stellschrauben, an denen man drehen könnte.
Als weiblicher DJ würde ich mich sehr darüber freuen, wenn sich mehr Frauen (und jene, die sich als Frau identifizieren) an die Decks trauen, denn bisher hat man immer mal wieder mit Vorurteilen zu kämpfen, was einem den Einstieg nicht unbedingt erleichtert.
Es sollte selbstverständlich sein, dass die Line-Ups mehr weibliche Namen hervorbringen, noch fehlt es jedoch eben an möglichen Mitwirkenden dafür. Traut Euch, Mädels!
Besonders 2020 habe ich gemerkt, dass man auch ohne Soziale Medien und berühmte DJs eine tolle Party feiern kann. Das bedeutet natürlich nicht, dass man beides meiden muss, jedoch sollte es nicht nur darauf ankommen. Ich würde mir wünschen, dass die Sozialen Medien weiter in den Hintergrund rückten und man wieder mehr Wert auf private, familiäre Events legt, was natürlich in der heutigen Zeit eine Utopie ist. So hatte Corona auch etwas Positives, da ich gemerkt habe, dass mir die kleinen Partys mit Freunden noch mehr Qualität und Freude bieten, als gehypte Massenevents.
Achja, und es sollten mehr Clubs während normaler Uhrzeiten geöffnet haben, damit die Omi in mir ihren Rhythmus beibehalten und schlafen kann. Danke!

„Cava" is a bass-driven dance floor smasher, splashed with lyrical lemonade that leaves no expectations unmatched.
As soon as Niko Schwind and Ron Flatter got the track into their hands, they wasted no time.
Immediately hitting the lab to produce two separate remixes, they added both a tad of deep state and a breath of mystery to the mix.

Far&High, a talented duo hailing from St. Petersburg, Russia, are seeing their first ever record, a four-tracker EP titled Not Alone, to be released on Diynamic.
Opening track Alone is a gloomy but colourful Indie Dance piece, with zeitgeisty vocals and a nod to 90s Acid rave. Up next comes All I Say, a vocal collab featuring Annett, whose sultry voice floats hypnotically over the powerful beat, followed by Voyager, a retrofuturistic electro-hommage.
Closing off the Not Alone EP is Ive Got The Powder, a laid-back club tune with a classy 80s style breakdown.

Miss Monique returns with another of her high class singles, and this time the package on her label Siona Records includes a remix from Sean & Dee. Miss Monique is possibly the most recognised female Progressive House DJ in Europe and she continues to establish her fine label here with more gold.

City Nights, City Lights is a slick tune that brims with the sort of late night energy and neon lights you would expect given its title. Broad bass brings drama and the hustling and bustling drums keep things moving forward as the city narrative unfolds. Sean & Dee is an Italian DJ/producer duo based in Sorrento, Naples. They have a characteristic sound, combining influences of progressive house and techno and show that here with a remix which ups the ante, charges ahead and brings a Serengetis techno vibe. The drums are powerful, the synths are electric and the track will make a huge impact.

Each new week brings without more red hot techno from the Dear Deer crew, and this time out it is Ukrainian duo Artaria &, Jean Vayat ft. U.S vocalist Evelynka who serves up new single Sun Is Setting while Rafael Cerato remix.

The original version is a far-sighted techno track with astral synths. It gets you in a daze and has you lost in a reverie of pads and rolling kicks, while the angelic vocal floats up top and adds layers of human emotion. The remix is more tense, with edgy synths looping beneath crashing hits. Progressive, cinematic, and well designed!
