BIO:

Robin Schellenberg made his first steps into music when he was 16. In 2004 Robin moved from Frankfurt am Main to Berlin and began to discover the infamous electronic music scene of the capital city. In his early time in Berlin, Robin was running a recording studio in Kreuzberg, played in different underground bands and started some of his first electronic projects. After focusing for many years on creating and managing cultural spaces, he released as „Bonze & Krösus“ on Acker Records and Symbiont-Music. Schellenberg also played several gigs in clubs like Kater Holzig, About Blank, Sisyphos, Ritter Butzke, Wilde Renate and festivals like Fusion at Bachstelzen stage. After a short hiatus, Schellenberg came back to making music in 2017, when he became part of the Riverside Studios in Berlin along Tobi Neumann, Martin Eyerer, Gheist, Pan-Pot, just to name a few. At the minute he is running a studio there with his friend Daniele Di Martino. In the beginning of 2018 Robin co-founded the record label „Kamai Music“ with his fellows Jacob Groening, Zigan Aldi, Bonfante & Robert Helms known as Umami. His debut track „Elnath“ released at Mono.Noise under his real name “Robin Schellenberg” in the beginning of 2019.

[NEW CHAPTER 080] - Podcast M.D.H. by Robin Schellenberg

The Flow sessions are a very unique podcast series. The project gives the artists so much more space to present their musical vision, and that's exactly what I did in my contribution. I love long DJ sets because with each hour I get deeper into my flow and can take people on a journey with me.  We start with a more leisurely pace, driving through the vastness of indie dance tracks, and spiraling more and more into the worlds of deep and melodic house. My mix winds through the many facets of my DJ sets and includes the different visions of modern electronic music that I like to present on the dancefloors of the world. Over time, the journey becomes more energetic and lands in the realm of more techno sounds. I love to tell stories and gain momentum over time to celebrate music together ecstatically. That's what I wanted to achieve with this mix. I really hope this one brings you joy. Thanks for having me. - Robin

Describing the sound and sonics aesthetics of Robin Schellenberg’s music, one could tend easily to use bold buzzwords like „Melodic Techno“ or „Deep House“  – but there is something more to it: his productions oscillate effortless through a soft dystopian void full of sweeping build up’s: His tracks are drifting endlessly into an infinite sky, twisting from warm unisons into harsher electronics, just to break down into well-tempered saturated up-tempo beats. It's not Dark Techno by definition, but Robin often gets driven towards its aesthetic, without drifting into its cold industrial repetition. His tracks feel like a deep yearning for the horizon, pulling the dancer tenderly forward with soft melancholy. In his DJ-Set’s all of this falls into place, with tempi from 119 – 125 bpm, blending deep, dark and psychedelic elements into heavy sweeping bangers, to slowly lead the dance floor into a sweet and endless decay. Robin released music with labels like Stil Vor Talent, Katermukke, Einmusika and has upcoming releases scheduled for Stil Vor Talent & Katermukke in 2023.

Robin Schellenberg’s new peaktime melodic techno remix for Panik Pop’s „Still“ was released 13th march 2020.
With his production partner Vruno he has some upcoming original at Kamai Music named „Circle Blue“, alongside acts like Niko Schwind, Nhii, Acado, Timboletti and some more.
In April Robin has another release at the upcoming „Stil Vor Talent Berlin“ with his production partners Rauschhaus & Daniele Di Martino. [10th of April]

Robin Schellenberg’s productions oscillate between a soft dystopian void full of sweeping build up’s, that drift endlessly into an infinite sky, twisting from a warm unisono into harsher electronics, to break down into perfectly saturated beats, that house themselves in the mid-tempo field, referencing minimal grooves from contemporary downbeat productions. Even if we are not talking about dark techno here, Robin loves its aesthetic and manages to translate them into his music, without drifting into cold industrial repetition – it’s more a deep yearning for the horizon, pulling the dancer forward with soft melancholy.

🗯🗯 How Did Corona change your artist life? 🗯🗯

Completely. I re-started my career as a dj/producer in 2019 and started off great with some nice releases and cool gigs all over europe. In 2020 I really wanted to go further, and all of a sudden every gig was cancelled.

Throughout the summer I got to play a lot of live-streams, and I'm really grateful, that so many people tried to get the best out of this situation and started to organize digital shows. Putting good digital shows and live-streams on is always a lot of work, so I'm really happy, that I could be a part of this.

But of course, I still miss the real life gigs a lot. In the end of the summer I had some beautiful shows when lock-down was lifted temporary, but they only felt like a little break. And now, we are in a real lockdown in germany.

Still, I'm part of many projects and I'm happy that I meet a lot of people in the digital world. I always try to find positive things - and even if its quite hard - there are the little moments which make you happy and give a meaning to all this.

🗯🗯 Where did you record the mix and how did you feel? 🗯🗯

I recorded the mix at my home. I'm there more or less most of the time, since November almost every day and I tried to make it my little hideout. After all those months of Corona I feel exhausted, and still confused about what will come, but I hope for the best and I'm happy, that so many people engage in a solidary way.

🗯🗯 What are your wishes for the time after Corona? 🗯🗯

I hope, that we will get back soon to some kind of normal. I think it will take longer than we think and hope - and some things will never go back to normal again. As far as I remember all humans are capeable of dealing with difficult situations, so I really do believe: We will make it through this!

But in order to do so we need to watch out for the people who need our help, who need our attention, and our love.

So please: stay caring, and keep thinking of one another.
