Powidltascherl (Plum jam turnovers)

The fruity Powidl originally comes from Bohemia and means a special kind of plum jam. „Powidl“ (from „povidat” / „to talk“) indicates the time-consuming preparation by permanent stirring – a time span that the peasant women tried to shorten by chatting. The Viennese phrase „Das ist mir Powidl“ (literally „To me this is Powidl“) means „I don’t care“. However, you should definitely care about our tasty Powidltascherl recipe. Try this sweet temptation from the Viennese cuisine!

Ingredients:
300 ml (0,5 pt) milk
2 tbsps butter
150 g ( 1 3/8 cup) flour (fine)
2 egg yolks
1 pinch salt
flour (for the work surface)
150 g (2/3 cup) plum jam (with 2 cl (0,03 pt) rum or plum schnapps, stirred)
icing sugar

For the butter crumbs:
100 g (1/2 cup) butter
100 g (1 cup) breadcrumbs
50 g (1/4 cup) walnuts (ground)
1 pinch cinnamon
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp vanilla sugar

Preparation:
Boil the milk with the butter and a pinch of salt. On low heat, stir in the flour and keep stirring until a very smooth batter is formed. Transfer into a mixing bowl and quickly mix in the egg yolks. Place the dough on a floured bread board and allow to cool. Dust the dough with flour and roll out to about 2mm thick on a floured surface. With a round cutter, cut 12 shapes about 8 cm in diameter and brush the edges with water. Spoon small portions of the rum-plum jam mixture a little off-center of the dough cuts. Fold over from the sides without jam and firmly press the edges together.
Boil some water with salt and place the turnovers in the water. Simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes. Meanwhile, melt the butter for the butter crumbs in a pan and fry the crumbs, nuts, vanilla and sugar until golden brown. Remove the turnovers from the water with a draining spoon and let drain. Toss them in the butter crumbs. Serve the turnovers sprinkled with sugar.

Tip:
Plum turnovers can be frozen and prepared by being boiled in bubbling hot water when needed.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better…Tujamo and Plastik Funk’s “Who” gets an upgrade to become “Dr. Who”. 
The original instrumental version, a staple of DJ sets for the past two summers, now comes with added Sneakbo! The British rapper jumps on the deeply funky beat and totally kills it.
Mistajam gave the track it’s world exclusive first spin as an ‘Inbox Fresh’ on his show on 1Xtra. Zane Lowe loved it so much that he made it his ‘Hottest Record in the World’ in his Radio 1 show. And Sara Cox followed up with a daytime spin on Radio 1.
“Dr Who” has also been receiving strong support from Charlie Sloth and DJ Target at 1Xtra, the Dixon brothers on Kiss, Friday Night Kiss and Saturday Night Kiss and Max over on Capital Xtra.
Sneakbo is no stranger to chart success – he charted at number 27 in 2013 with “Ring A Ling”, 2012’s “Zim Zimma” reached number 35 and took the number 48 spot in 2011 with “The Wave”. 
“Who” - a collaboration between German producer Tujamo and German House duo Plastik Funk - went Top 10 on Beatport and was supported by some of the biggest names on planet DJ including Avicii, Steve Angello and Tiesto.
But it's the addition of Sneakbo's vocal that is guaranteed to send this track stratospheric!
