Our newest story comes from Augenstein, a very talented producer and DJ from Halle Germany. He has caught our attention with his latest EP on renowned label Random Collective wich came out early this year. His music is a mixture of spacey, downpitched sounds, melodic and organic ingridients, all held together with deep and seductive basslines. I'm back with another episode - this time it is mixed by TakaTukka.
Lean back and enjoy, this extra slow ride..

For years drifting on electronic music festivals, @TAkATukkA started to collect and mix music in 2017. The favourite sound crystallized around deep and melodic tunes being produced or pitched to comfortable 100 - 110 bpm, sometimes even below. Due to lack of pleasant electronic venues in Sbg, he co-founded the downtempo collective @LauterKlabauter. The idea is to promote  SlowRave in an otherwise fast-paced music scene, to connect people with stirring sounds that create an atmosphere of bliss and comfort. Since 2020 TAkATukkA is co-hosting a monthly radio show for electronic world music presenting latest releases of respected labels and upcoming artists.
 
This mix is a short drive from naturalistic melodies to bounxy basslines, intermezzos and back. tempered at juicy 90 bpm.

Welcome back to the Magician On Duty Podcast Series!

On this edition we welcome Ẓıȷŋ @medi-zijn

In ẒIJN's family of origin, music has been heard since prehistoric times as the essential art of all the arts, which were omnipresent from an early age. He was literally born with the talent of the sound artist. Some instruments shaped the career and the basic emotional feeling. When he was growing up, the first attempts came with old, cheap CD-Players to mix Goa and Trance. Time passed and the priorities shifted to visual arts such as painting and studying media design.

But then at some point „Techno" discovered ẓıȷŋ’s constant permacreative urge to create and so began a timeless journey through electronic worlds of sound, sometimes melodious, sometimes deep, sometimes hypnotic, sometimes colorfully mixed and then again simply and with shamanic influences.
Since then, ẓıȷŋ is constantly diggin’ new sound and combines different and sometimes odd styles together, just like an Alchemist would do so.

ẓıȷŋ comes from the Dutch word „zijn“, which means: „to be“ and this is what his music stands for. The now.

About this journey:
The other side ....we got lost in a maze of dirt tracks, winding through umbrella pines, arbutus trees and eucalyptus. We walked, criss-crossed, here and there, following our choice of footsteps, without judging them, without worrying.
Suddenly, in front of us, a grotto appeared, illuminated by old-fashioned candles.  We weren't alone; other souls were already there. We were told that a special ceremony was about to take place there, and that they were waiting for us. We were invited to take into our hands a steaming elixir; a magical infusion of Moringa, carefully prepared by the two local mages, Dr ChucuChucu and Jeremiah.
The voices fell silent, and a haunting music rose up, harmoniously blending hypnotic tones and organic percussion.

At the far end of the cave, we made out a silhouette, encircled by a white light. We were told it was Lalla Mira, the capricious female spirit of the Gnawa pantheon. She who calls for joy of living, love, sharing and dance, she who embodies the quest for roots, a deep anchorage in the frenetic pace of our modern lives.

 Lalla Mira's music enveloped the grotto in captivating vibrations. The heady rhythms of percussion blended with the ethereal melodies of traditional instruments, creating an echo of the ancient soul and a connection with our deepest essence. The sounds, both powerful and percussive, transported our spirits to distant horizons, while rooting our feet in mother earth. It was as if each note resonated with the beating of our hearts, inviting us to dance, to celebrate life, and to connect with something greater than ourselves.

" Ahoy! I'm living at the baltic sea coast in germany and since my childhood i'm playing the saxophone in several live combos. But a decade ago I also fell in love with electronic music. I like it smooth, I like it slow, I like it driving and drifting. I love to spread my vibe daytime on music festivals, sharing storytelling dj sets and of course still love jammin the saxophone with soulfoul musicians. Once in a while I combine and make live saxophone Dj sets.
