Oslo's deep house hero Henrik Villard returns with a new EP ‘Going Down’ on Snick Snack Music.

Henrik Villard's local scene success has rather burgeoned in recent years, with his name now making a mark on the international stage. His music has come on labels like Beatservice and Mhost Likely and blends classic and golden-age sounds with new school production techniques, lo-fi samples and groovy bass that carries listeners to the stars.

Opener 'Birdcall' does just that with its pulsing synth lines spraying about over surging house drums that are sure to lift the dance floor off its feet. Rich pads flesh out the details and make this one as emotive as it is dynamic. 'Going Down' brings plenty of psychedelic colour as sublime synth sequences rain down over the crisp, broken drum patterns. It's got a future disco feel that is impossible not to love. 'Redlight' is more loose and playful as the synths dance about with real soul and the prickly drums undulate to perfection. It's a perfect fusion of astral colour and human warmth that brings the dance floor together and closes the release in style.

Established talents on the scene, as well as emerging projects, offering an approach as designed for the track as it is for home listening. Altogether, we find fused rhythms and rich soundscapes that lead us to an exploration as fluid as it is captivating. The album offers us a dynamic contrast that shows the versatility of a timeless project, created from talent, meticulousness and sonic coherence.The level of production of these guys is intense but, on the other hand, the care of the sounds they release is at the level of those who do things because they want and with the time they really need. Bruit Fantôme. That's what we call tinnitus. It's a sometimes incessant whistling sound that comes unexpectedly and whose origin seems mysterious. It's also the name of an enigmatic character born from the sequencers of an MAO software and a love of jazz without reference points.

And while Bruit Fantôme's rhythms are unfailingly precise, the punk spirit and elements of surprise intrude at every interstice of his music. With synthwave layers painted on broken kicks and nebulous acid melodies, he transports listeners into a space-time rift, heading for 80s Detroit.

His new EP Egypte Pyramide is a vibrant tribute to this era, marked by artists such as Egyptian Lover and Drexciya, at the crossroads of cybernetic techno and organic hypnosis. A-Sim and Evenn add a new dimension to the whole with their remixes bridging the gap with today's club scene.

Toronto based @Dacou serves up the latest instalment in the Sinchi Edits series.

Words from the man himself...

'Kenedougou Foly' is a song kindred to its composer, Neba Solo - both are rooted in the historical and cultural legacy of Mali and Western Africa. Hailing from the Kenedougou region of southeastern Mali, Solo and the balafon (modified xylophone) masterclass he provides on the title track of his debut album are a fitting tribute to his homeland, the historic Kenedougou Kingdom of the Traorè dynasty.

The song begins with an invocation or call to attention "Ayeh Na”, as Neba Solo begins to provide commentary on the socio-economic issues faced by the people of Kenedougou. The song also speaks about the environmental degradation of the land and acknowledges the struggles faced by its people, while calling for collective action from the world to address these issues facing Western Africa.

I chose this particular song because I’ve always appreciated the sound and emotional response of West African music, Mali in particular. From Oumou Sangare and Fatoumata Diawara to the Tuareg sounds of Bombino and Tinariwen, Malian sounds resonate worlds over despite people not immediately understanding the words being spoken. Kenedougou Foly is such a track that just elicits a heartfelt feeling, stemming from Neba Solo’s infectious vocals, a call and response from backup vocalists, as well as his prodigious bafalon playing that is at the core of his genius.

My approach was quite simple. As folk songs of this archetype are usually bereft of electronic or Western dance elements, I added what I felt was necessary to provide a high-energy and hard-hitting version to be played out and played loud. Starting and ending with Neba Solo’s call for attention seemed fitting, sandwiched between Italo-style arp bass, some 303 acid sounds, and a 4/4 beat to tie everything together.

After the successful launch of "Recuerdo Futuro" produced by Moisees and ZEA, both based in CDMX; we all decided to re-release it as an EP, now loaded with remixes and a new original. “Recuerdo Futuro “is a flash of the forgotten rave parties of the nineties, the nostalgia of a past that was not lived. For the second original “Ondas” it combines House, trance and some Indie vibes, as a result it’s a dancefloor killer.

Followed by the remixes, for the first remix we have one of the most talented producers in Mexico and founder of Duro together with Moisees, Theus Mago, arrives with a "Sexy" and quite groovy version. Followed by the Mexican star Mystery Affair, who lands with a very trance and acidic remix. Finally we have a new collaboration between Ludviq & Rina, with a darker and deeper remix, with hypnotic and mystical vocals, perfect to close the EP.

The Ep is  well-crafted offering some unique sound, while maintaining a cohesive theme and vibe. It's a testament to the creativity and collaboration, definitely one of our finest releases.

Copenhagen-based artist Silent Cure is known for producing in a wide music spectrum, from beautiful ambient and jazz-infused tracks to high-energy synth and electro music. The EP title track, 'Natural Punk’, is a blend of electronic synth elements and full-blown rock energy, showcasing his deep influences from the early days of Vitalic. The track is throwing synths right in your face in the most punk way! Started out as a DJ in 1995, playing at underground parties, and later secured a residency at Kraznapolsky, which was one of
Copenhagen's most renowned clubs for electronic music at the time. Here, you could encounter everyone from Björk to the Danish
Crown Prince on the dance floor, illuminated by strobe and UV lights as the only light sources. (The vinyl days)
In 1999, the artist behind Silent Cure organized a major electronic festival at the Town Hall Square in Copenhagen called "Rave Parade." It was the first of its kind and drew 20,000 ravers. This event was inspired by the German Love Parade and took place annually from 1999 to 2001.
This also resulted in being hired as a Promoter and A&R Assistant for Flex / EMI Records, overseeing artist development, release
parties, radio, club tours, and promoting Music For Dreams in Ibiza.
Later on, Silent Cure was involved in producing music through several projects, playing in Europe and South Asia at parties and festivals like Street Parade, which gathered over one million people in the streets of Zürich. The ‘Last Forever’ EP by Sylvio B on Major Records, also known as Majorettes, kicks off with the title track. It introduces the release with an introspective and sultry vocal, sung by Robert Owens over a low-slung house groove in a gorgeous tribute to the Chicago sound. Next up on the release is ‘My Story’, a vintage track at heart with a modern soul. Owens’ vocals once again add great flair to its earworm melody and groove.

‘It’s Like’ on Sylvio B’s ‘Last Forever’ is a dancefloor bomb built for the floor, complete with hypnotic arpeggios and tasty acid drips. This is before The Netherlands’ Lupe remixes ‘Last Forever’, amping up its drums and adding a playful and infectious bassline while reworking Robert’s vocal arrangement for the club.

Having come up via the queer music community of Hamburg, French artist Sylvio B, now based in Paris, has built a name for himself across Europe playing line-ups at Thuishaven, Dalston Superstore, Macadam, and many more. Following his first single on Les Disques Du Lobby, he is now ready to share his debut ‘Last Forever’ EP on Major Records NY, a label that has previously featured Justin Cudmore and Mike Servito.

Sultana (RU) - Whispers From The Void (Cafe De Anatolia)

For its fourth delivery, the promising Buenos Aires/Madrid-based imprint Modula welcomes back skilled – and also promising – producer Viktoria Jauregui. Hailing from La Plata, Argentina, Viktoria was present on Modula’s debut release with the complex and heated cut “Quiero”, part of the six-track compilation “Sortilegios”. After appearing on other VAs on TeQwave and Kyma Komplex, she finally has an EP to call her own filled with what she understands as electronic music for the intelligent dance floors out there: absolutely no fluffiness or pink flamingos, only groovy and highly danceable dark vibes. On the remix duties, Ludmila Fuks (SXDNS361) and V.C.I. Premiered here, the latter’s interpretation.

The name of the Argentinian duo stands for Voltage Controlled Illusion. Creative, as their very own productions, both originals and reworks. For their take on “8 AM”, for instance, the lads deployed their sharp resourcefulness by keeping the aforementioned groovy and highly danceable dark vibes of the original but covered it now with a proper amount of acid.

Artist Bio: Ricky El-Qasem, from Manchester, is a relatively unknown DJ who cut his teeth in the 90s. Ricky took a break from partying and DJing to pursue family and work. Fast forward to 2022, Ricky rekindled his interest in the music software he'd been experimenting with in the late 1990s and started producing electronic music, encompassing genres such as techno, House, Acid, and Breakbeat, under the pseudonym Dark Utopia, with several releases to his name.
