GUN (Grim Up North), the new alias of Newcastle mainstay Peter Wilson, aka one-half of People Get Real, debuts on Me Me Me this August with 'The Reef' EP featuring remixes from REES & Sahar, Fall Forward & Grainger and Kiaki. Over many years as People Get Real, Wilson has established himself as one of house and disco's most assured and accomplished DJ and production duos. He has played at various major clubs and festivals globally, has served up a wealth of club-ready weapons on his co-founded Join Our Club label, and now branches out with something just as vital under the new alias, GUN. Opener 'El Carbonara' is an eight-minute, acid-laced mind melter. The pressurised drums, warped synths and jacked-up drums chug along with an inviting rawness that will make a significant impact. First to remix are two of the North East's latest rising stars: Middlesborough's very own REES & Sahar join to significant effect to flip 'El Carbonara' into a more unhinged and spaced out track with wonky grooves and tripped out fx. Next up is the fantastic 'The Reef (BeefMix),' a heavy, off-balance house cut with rugged textures, blissed-out pianos for hands in the air moments and plenty of subtle euphoria in the lush pads. The same tune gets a standout Acid Dub the layers in the 303 and allows it to run wild and take dancers to another level. Fresh off the back of a Beatport Electro Chart-topper, Fall Forward & Grainger once again impress with their remix of 'The Reef.' Powered by a fat, twisted bassline and with big old-school piano stabs, it is celebratory and uplifting in tasteful and effective ways. GUN's 'Boput' slows things down to a tense and paranoid crawl, crashing hits and drums for a dark atmosphere. Prickly acid, jacked-up percussion and modulated synths all add fryer colour and detail to this backroom classic. Last of all comes a remix from Kiaki, a brand new artist and young talent who will release a full debut on this label later in the year. His version is a leggy and shadowy, industrial-tinged dark disco groove with angular drums and tension in the synths.

In this release he comes to delight us with his very characteristic rhythmics of his groove, leading us to a high level of satisfaction. This EP is composed of two original tracks, to which are coupled another 3 remixes created by artists like. Barko, Umvral (@umvralmx) and one of our boss label Darkbeat. where they mark the course of their creations. The original track that heads this EP, giving the name to this work is Strong. An artistic piece where all the expression of the synthesizers is felt, while you are enveloped by the powerful bass that directs you to a dark voice inside your head. Completing the duo of original tracks, we find Exos, a deep mixture of rhythm and darkness, that guides you again towards synthesized voices that together with the melodies will make you dance without stopping.

Mundo D - Into The Madness

One of the most important traits at Quixotical Records is uniqueness, music that stands out. No exception is the latest release "Pilots Lounge" by Nickelson (@nickelson-music) who perfectly fulfills the vision of how it should sound. Two original tracks "Negative Energy" and "Pilots Lounge" with two remixes by the founder of Cowbell Radio - Ed Mahon and head of In Dark We Trust - Berny, make this release an absolute banger for the dark disco dance floor.

'Negative Energy' is a bit weird, I believe, that the name itself perfectly describes, what we come up against in all those unpleasant situations,
time and time again... As we all know, negative emotions tend to take us over and keep us in a bad mood longer, it doesn't just go away by a blink of an eye. If you listen closely, you'll notice one particular thing, that Mr. Nickelson did in this track. And by not spoiling the "main event" here, I will say only this - perplexity. Try and listen to this with a clear head, and you'll find a parallels between what you strain so badly to perceive and what is the most simplistic and logically sound idea, that explains the reasoning, if only the perception,
is subject to change.
