Theus Mago is the alter ego of Mexican producer Mateo González, responsible for dance music projects such as Bufi (Kitsuné/Discotexas), Sonido Fantasma (Turbo Recordings) and currently co-head of label Duro. 

Theus Mago is a new side of Mateo obscure experimental rhythmsmeet the rigourness of the party dancefloor. 

In 2015, Theus Mago released “Ritmo Extraterrestre” through the french/german label Correspondant, earning quick support from the likes of Solomun, Dixon, Âme and Haai, kicking off aconstantly busy world touring schedule. 

Mateo’s alter ego has lately been on a steady streak of solid releases, including labels around the globe such as Lumiere Noire, Turbo Recordings, Optimo, Ombra Intl, Duro, Feines Tier, Playground Records, Correspondant and Pets Recordings, among many others.

The flamboyant duo have been on our radar for sometime now and we're delighted to support the coming release.  You can read more about their approach to music, parties, inspirations and social justice via the interview below. As a short introduction in their own words....

'The mix is a colourful bouquet of various songs out on the 'Freeride Millenium presents Queer Base“ charity compilation such as Massimiliano Pagliara, Benjamin Fröhlich, Sedef Adasi, Modular Project, Cantor that we are going to release on July 30th. It also contains some goodies we thought match the breeze and direction of the journey such as Alinka, Club Tularosa and Ultra Nate. There is also some unreleased stuff inside by us and ROTCIV' .

Este es el noveno Lapsos y esta vez estará a cargo de Alvaro Cabana (Rotten City / Madrid) aquí puedes leer la entrevista que le hicimos:


1-. ¿Cual es el principal criterio que sigues a la hora de seleccionar música para el sello que diriges, Rotten City?

Básicamente música que me lleve a algún lugar, me emocione y de alguna manera me resulte excitante,  independientemente del estilo , velocidad y procedencia.  
Siempre intentando mantener un equilibrio entre el material más enfocado a la pista de baile y el lado más artístico o personal para así  poder trazar un espacio donde huir de lo más genérico.
He de confesar que no puedo evitar tener ciertas influencias y preferencias por sonidos exóticos, psicodélicos, cósmicos, discoides, o new wave / post punk. Supongo que esto de algún modo se acaba reflejando en las referencias del sello, sin embargo, al final siempre acabo dejándome llevar por lo que me llame de alguna manera la atención sin necesidad de intelectualizar demasiado. Prefiero quedarme con lo que siento a primera escucha. Aunque a priori haya cosas que  parezca que no esté entre mis preferencias musicales, puede ser que conecte de inmediato con ellas.

2-. En que estás trabajando actualmente, qué planes tienes a futuro?

Varios remixes. Más adelante saldrá un EP en Roam y otro en Pets Recordings

3-. ¿Algo curado que te haya pasado tocando?

Me viene a la mente  Yaga festival 2018, en el que estaba programado para pinchar dos horas cerrando el escenario principal y acabé haciendo más de 5.

4-. Nombra tus artistas favoritos actualmente o Qué artistas han sido clave en tu inspiración para hacer música electrónica o ¿Algún artista que no conocemos aún, pero deberíamos de prestar más atención?

Actualmente y desde hace unos años ya, Manfredas, Golden Bug, Toulouse Low Trax, River Yarra, John Talabot, Fango o  Prins Thomas. Del pasado,  IDM de los 90s, bandas como Primus o Coil. También DJs como Trevor Jackson, Andrew Weatherall han sido una constante inspiración. Dave P es otro de mis favoritos actualmente.

Recomendaría no perder la pista a los productores españoles afincados en Madrid Jai y Lebollet y a Iro Aka de Barcelona.

Based in Berlin, Skelesys is a versatile, ever-evolving and particularly cutting-edge artist. He’s a producer and live act with a strong musical background inspired by Hard Rock, Post-Punk, Synth Pop, science fiction and horror movies.
His sound could be defined as haunted and effective, the result of a delicate and neat mixture of marked basses, always accompanied by thriller melodies and subtle grooves surrounded by darkness with a stripped down futuristic vibe. He is currently working on his first abum.

Mark Bailey aka MAN2.0 has been splicing together sounds longer than he can remember, as a teen he graced the microphones of some terrible covers bands as well as DJing some of the most hedonistic house parties that Hayes Town had to offer, while by day working at the local record store. After throwing away his guitars and buying an appregiator his music gained a bit of attention from the Ransom Note and was taken under the wing of Tronik Youth. From the age of 18 he regularly attended Fabric and the now defunct End nightclub and Turnmills immersing himself in London’s club scene. With forthcoming releases on Nein and Night Noise, he gets the opportunity to attempt to emulate the sounds of his heroes Laurent Garnier, Darren Emerson, Ivan Smagghe, Andrew Weatherall and Justin Robertson.

"Aurum Miles aka. Aurimas Milesinas is producer/songwriter/dj/ co-founder of the Quixotical Records from Lithuania, based in Vilnius.
