Four tracks no one should miss out on having at home pressed on the darkest and lustiest of all the treats. Mister Wells invites Ramona on a trip to another dimension where the sounds of the past are the columns of a neo-transcendental audio-vision. In this future no one dances alone.

So.... Nordic Music Export asked me to do a little mix or playlist.
After picking out almost 100 records and not knowing how to attack this(though I know some people would have enjoyed hearing Pekka Pohjola, Sigur Ros, Dungen, Buki Yamaz and Terje Rypdal shoehorned together)I decided to concentrate entirely on swedish exotica and mostly quite recent and uptempo stuff. This is not meant as a full overview or representation of what's going down just a few of my favourite things to come out of Sweden.

Born into a mid 80s cultural landscape suffused with the gentle angst of 'The Breakfast Club', Clarian grew up in Montreal and began recording and composing as a teenager when suburban kids were falling asleep to Radiohead's 'The Bends'. With this musical heritage Clarian formed his musical being in his early and late teens. His style went down particularly well with renowned labels like Visionquest and Life And Death.

Being invited to play on the bus after hearing everyone rave about it was certainly one of the most exciting news of the year.

Stepping up behind the decks following the Martinez Brothers was not such an obvious and easy task considering the differences in our respective “styles”. Nonetheless, all your smiles and dance moves whilst I was performing proved the RH crew had made that call for a particular reason.

Following such a positive experience playing on the bus, in the city, I can only imagine what it would be like in the middle of the desert.

Thanks to all of you for bringing such joy to my heart, it sure was a night I will not forget!

Now here's something special. Johannes Brecht returns to Poker Flat with a little night music, a trio of deep, dramatic and driving house tunes that in their precision and inven- tion are testimony to a distinctive intelligence.

Since an impressive stint as musical direc- tor for Henrik Schwarz's "Instruments" project and the subsequent release of 2013's "Holla", Brecht's reputation has been growing steadily with a series of carefully crafted 12"s. And if "Trois Nocturnes" is anything to go by, 2015 is set to be his year.

Nuages" hinges on a sinuous, snake-charming synth line. Instantly memorable, it's an exquisi- te headphone experience that's equally deadly on the dancefloor.

The lilting "Sirènes" teems with ideas, its big kick burnished with a dancing synth motif and a chamber orchestra of synthetic strings.

Last but not least, the motorik 12-minute "Fêtes" contrasts its knotty, brittle piano line with sus- tained pads and bright, striking syncopations.

In England you would probably call this a 'Afrobeats' mix, thats the new term that people use to bunch together all new contemporary African dance music. But at the end of the day its dance music from all over the world. UK to Nigeria. Malawi to Sweden. Germany to Ghana. Portugal to Angola. America to Kenya. 

We called the mix Anzanga, because it means 'friends' in Malawi's national language Chichewa, and this is the kind of mix you should listen to with your friends in the park when you're having a few drinks and lighting the BBQ!
