For the final Phase Group Mix of 2022 we invite Loma Doom from Amsterdam to the series. 

Loma Doom - real name Femke Dekker - lives in Amsterdam where she's a vital member of the music scene, a seasoned digger and radio host as well as a curator and educator of contemporary art. Her dedication to radio is quite amazing, holding residencies on Radio Tempo Nao Para, Echobox Radio and Stranded FM as well as Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee, an online radio station dedicated to art.

For her Phase Group Mix she has gifted us with an expertly composed deep listening experience. One hour of shamanic trance moving through dark droning soundscapes, tribal percussion and ancient voices chanting echoing incantations, recorded live at the Radio Tempo Nao Para studios in Amsterdam. Phase Group Mix - Loma Doom

Man Rei, aka Kristin Reiman, is an artist and musician based in Frankfurt. On discovering their work we were instantly taken by their hypnotic vocals that illuminate their perceptive and poetic writing.

As with their music, they approach this mix with a focused narrative. The storyteller morphs rhythmically through disparate voices, their words carrying us through shadowy atmospheres of music concrète and new age. Yet there's a lightness and playfulness that leads us through gothic overtones towards moments of radiant vocals, a carefree energy enticing us into a lucid daydream.

Scrying the Landscape XIV. The exquisitely mystifying 1981 film 𝘐𝘯 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘸 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘶𝘯 by Derek Jarman, sound tracked by Throbbing Gristle, offers a ritualistic journey into the English countryside. Inspired by the curious cinematography and sound of the avant-garde film, this episode of Scrying is our own iteration of its score in an attempt to capture similar narrative tools it uses to ascend into ancient worlds ever-present in the streets we all walk through: The slowing of frames skewing scenes of the (un)familiar landscape forsakes straight linearity and etches pathways to the mobility of experienced time. In the fragmentary nature of duration, consciousness shines through drawing out archetypal images of human existence in Jungian terms. For this, we reach out a sonic gesture to touch base with primaeval, inherited memories in a melting pot of pagan iconography and the mystery of the everyday.

Scrying the Landscape w. Elina Tapio, Hannah Pezzack [02.08.2023]

A special mix by Ugnė Uma, ahead of her stunning upcoming Meakusma album Tam Tikri Objektai Erdvėje together with saxophonist and producer Sam Gendel. 

Ugnė's musical stance is influenced by experimental poetry and Lithuania's 20th century underground music scene - jazz and folk, resulting from the liberation of the country's independence movements. She also hosts a radio show about contemporary jazz called Hao Dao and works as an art writer and essayist. Expect a gentle, deep and intuition-driven mix of musical spheres both complex and minimalist and more.
