Toronto, ON (August 12, 2014) – Announced today, Pheromone Recordings/New Scotland Records will release “In My Dreams” – the highly anticipated sophomore album from critically acclaimed songwriter and performer Mo Kenney on September 30th. The tongue-in-cheek first single “Telephones” will debut at radio later this month. Known for her poignant lyricism and genre bending stylistic variance, “In My Dreams” showcases a level of artistic maturity that far exceeds Kenney’s twenty-four years.

“It is definitely bigger sonically,” says Kenney. “I see it as different lyrically too. I am quite private and I used to be a little cryptic to protect myself, but I have been writing more honestly lately. This record is definitely honest.”

“In My Dreams” reunites Kenney with her key creative collaborator and musical mentor, Joel Plaskett. The East Coast icon produced, played on and co-wrote some of the material on her 2012 critically acclaimed self-titled debut – a role he reprises on this accomplished and exciting follow-up. Most of the instrumentation on the album comes from Kenney and Plaskett themselves, and though a certain musical direction was carved out in advance, much of the making of the album relied on the spontaneity and stylistic compatibility of the two. 

With her debut positively embraced by both fans and industry heavyweights, Kenney went on to receive a number of accolades, including a Canadian Folk Music Award for New/Emerging Artist of the Year, an East Coast Music Award for Pop Recording of the Year, three Music Nova Scotia Awards and the prestigious 2013 SOCAN Songwriting Prize – confirmation of her early potential as a fresh and original songwriting talent.

Influences drawn from classic rock favourites put a fresh spin on Kenney’s singer-songwriter approach, seeing beautiful, harmonious melodies embrace edgier rock undertones. Treading the line between pop, folk and indie rock, “In My Dreams” serves up a fresh dose of Kenney’s raw and earnest lyrics and whip smart candor, all while remaining  true to the sincerity fans have come to love. 

Having spent time touring with Plaskett as well as beloved fellow Canadians Ron Sexsmith, Royal Wood and Raine Maida, 2013 also saw Kenney play Woodford Festival in Australia, Iceland Airwaves Festival and The Great Escape. She embarked on a cross-Canada solo tour including stops at the Vancouver, Calgary and Regina Folk Festivals and performed her own compositions with Symphony Nova Scotia. Earlier this year “Mo Kenney” was released in Australia, the UK and Ireland where both the record and Kenney’s performances were received with great enthusiasm. In September she will head back to the UK and will tour around the release of her first record in Germany and Austria including a stop at Reeperbahn Festival and Waves Vienna. Kenney will return to Canada to tour in October.

Gegen Ende der 1980er kamen DJ Deeps erste Tapes auf unbekannten Wegen in ein CD-Presswerk. Ein begeisterter Bekannter übernahm die Vermarktung. DJ Deep erstellte gegen Honorar die Mixe und lieferte nur das Master-Tape. Durch die höheren Stückzahlen bekam die Deep Dance-Musik eine größere Verbreitung. Die CDs wurden ab 1992 auf Flohmärkten und in speziellen Plattenläden „unter dem Ladentisch“ für einen Stückpreis von ca. 30 bis 50 Deutsche Mark verkauft, ähnlich wie schon länger die Raubdrucke. Verbreitet war auch der "Direktvertrieb" an DJs in den Diskotheken. Der Düsseldorfer Zoll schätzt den tatsächlichen Einkaufspreis dieser Mixe - die vorzugsweise im osteuropäischen Raum gepresst wurden - zwischen 3 bis 5 Deutsche Mark.
Was für DJ Deep Ende der 1980er als ein Hobby mit einem Doppelkassettendeck im Partykeller begann, wurde in den 1990er Jahren zu einem sehr großen kommerziellen Erfolg für die Szene. Mixerfahrungen hatte Peine bereits durch seine Tätigkeit als DJ in der mittlerweile geschlossenen Discothek Glaspalast in Dinslaken. Durch das neue finanzielle Zubrot war es DJ Deep möglich, sein Tonstudio stetig zu erweitern. Die 2-Spur, und später die 8-Spur Revox-Tonbandmaschine wurde bald durch digitale Geräte ersetzt. Nun war auch das für den „Deep Mix“ charakteristische Keysampling möglich.
Da DJ Deep sich aber weiter an urheberrechtlich geschütztem Material bediente und z. B. keine GEMA-Gebühren zahlte, wurde die Staatsmacht auf ihn aufmerksam. Primär ging es mehr um vermutete Steuerhinterziehung als um die Verletzung von Urheberrechts. Dasselbe gilt übrigens auch für seinen Mixkollegen Studio 33. Die GEMA rechnete allein bei der Deep Dance-Serie mit einem geschätzten volkswirtschaftlichen Schaden von etwa 150.000 Deutsche Mark pro Jahr.
Das Landgericht Essen verurteilte alle Beteiligten wegen Steuerverkürzung und gewerbsmäßigem Herstellen illegaler Tonträger mit empfindlichen Bewährungsstrafen. Für die Vertreiber gab es auch Haftstrafen. Andreas Peine und Uwe Jagusch erhielten eine Geldstrafe.
DJ Deep veröffentlichte ab 1996 aber auch für die damalige Zeit brandneue Dance-Tracks auf offiziellen frei verkäuflichen Deep Dances, die sich später zu echten Dancefloor Hits entwickelten und in die Top Positionen der Charts kamen. Seit 2003 produziert DJ Deep eine neue legale Serie mit jeweilig relevanten Dance-Hits und in der gewohnten hohen Qualität. Inzwischen (Stand:19. November 2010) steht das 18. Doppel-Album dieser Serie (Deep Dance Vol. 18) offiziell in den CD-Regalen und in den deutschen Album-Charts von Media Control. Parallel zum illegalen Deep Dance veröffentlichte Peine auch den „SWG Chartmix“, wobei SWG für „So wird’s gemacht!“ stand. Ein Phantasiename.
Die Wortmarke Deep Dance (Register-Nr. 301194963, Leitklasse Nr. 25, Bekleidung) als auch die Wort-Bildmarke deep (auf dem Kopf stehender Buchstabe e, Register-Nr. 30152681, Leitklasse 09, Tonträger) wurden von Andreas Peine beim deutschen Marken- und Patentamt eingetragen und sind dadurch gesetzlich geschützt.
