After 5 years of no Subsonic it was a dream to see the festival return, 5000 people the happiest ive ever seen!

Its was a pleasure to play the Saturday night to a packed marquee!

Full energy in that place so this set reflects that atmosphere.

🌾 SESSION XVIII — CHALGA OF THE CARPATHIANS  

Enter the mist-wrapped mountain passes of the Balkans. “Chalga of the Carpathians” weaves hypnotic non-lexical chants, polyphonic vocal trills, and breath-punctuated harmonies into a forest-born ritual. Gadulka drones, kaval flourishes, and tapan drum rhythms echo through the Carpathian dusk, accompanied by goatskin frame drum taps, swirling Şalgam reeds, and pine-shaded field recordings.

This session honors the ecstatic tradition of mountain song—from Bulgarian village calls to Romanian forest hymns. It’s a trance of stone and smoke, echo and breath.
