Sonata Collective was established in 2021, marking the official collaboration of two talented artists, ShelliOak (Kristian Smith) and Curt Lopez (Curt Lopes Faulkner Jr). Their individual sounds had already begun capturing the attention of thousands of listeners, but together they formed a dynamic duo with a vision to elevate their craft to new heights. Their upcoming releases promise to resonate deeply with even the most seasoned ravers.

The pair’s journey began in 2015, when they met as university students in Leeds. Both were cutting their teeth as DJs in iconic northern venues like The Space, Backroom, and Tiger Tiger, spinning at student events before graduating to more prestigious stages. Their sound found a home in renowned spots such as Mint Club, The Warehouse, Sheaf Street, and Mission, where they began building a loyal audience.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, they honed their craft, developing a signature sound unmistakably their own. Yet, something was missing ... a final element to bring their creative vision full circle. This led to the formation of Sonata Collective, a project born out of their shared passion for innovation in house music.

Since then, the duo has gained recognition on some of the most respected labels in the scene, including Glasgow Underground, Origins, and Mood Child. Their work has been supported by industry heavyweights such as Solomun, Jamie Jones, Ben Sterling, Paco Osuna, MK, and Lee Foss, further cementing their reputation as rising stars.

Their standout track to date, "Simon Says" featuring the talented MC Tone Blanco, has been a game-changer. Released under Mood Child, the label helmed by Manda Moor and Sirus Hood, the track has earned high praise from none other than the legendary Solomun, who has played it to crowds worldwide.

With their unique fusion of deep, groovy beats and infectious energy, Curt Lopez and ShelliOak are poised to make a significant mark on the UK house scene, a scene already brimming with world-class talent.
