Much loved underground community organisation Parry Talks has announced the release of their sophomore, record label, charity compilation, Parry Talks Alumni Volume II. The 4 track compilation comes off the back of an extremely successful debut release which raised $1500 for NSW Aboriginal Legal Service. Now the tracklist has opened up to Sydney/Eora’s noisy neighbours in Melbourne/Naarm for a charity release with 100% of the revenue being dedicated to Smugglers of Light. This digital only, bandcamp exclusive release features a who's who of the incredible underground scenes, featuring Purient, DAWS, Posture and Glen S.

The charity which every cent of the compilation will contribute funds to is Smugglers of Light.
The Foundation was created to provide assistance to young indigenous musicians and youth at risk through programs of taking film-makers and musicians to their communities. The charity introduces songwriting and musicianship and performance skills for First Nations communities, assists n the provision of musical education and training to persons in the area of youth and indigenous music, in order to improve the outreach of musical education and storytelling in Australia, to facilitate musical development and innovation in Australian indigenous communities; and to encourage the performance of contemporary community music.

Australian producer Luke Alessi is back on DJ Tennis’ iconic Life and Death label with his latest record, the ‘After Five’ EP.

Picture a roaring 1920s debauched, excessive and riotous cocktail party with screaming brass moments meets 1970s funk and disco grooves that loop and tumble you into a hypnotic state while Barry White's voice guides you through the whole experience. ‘After Five’ was designed to make you feel sexy, groovy and a little bit wild. 

A sonic journey through moody elegance and late-night allure, the release is complemented by remixes from boundary-pushing producers Pablo Bozzi and Aldonna.

The title track, ‘After Five’, released in November 2024 to an avalanche of praise, proving Luke Alessi’s knack for crafting sophisticated beats that resonate across dancefloors. Named as  Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune on his coveted BBC Radio 1 show as well as over ten placements on Spotify and Apple Music editorial playlists, and heavyweight DJ support from tastemakers like DJ Tennis, Dixon, La Fleur, Laurent Garnier, Jimi Jules, and Demi Riquísimo, it’s clear his track has struck a universal chord.

Pablo Bozzi’s remix followed this up and came out on January 17th, putting his signature Italo flex on the title track turning it into a hedonistic and raucous party anthem. Known for her idiosyncratic sound that mirrors her deep sonic interest for the nineties and early noughties, Aldonna finds her sweet spot between House, Progressive and Trance with her remix of ‘Day Dreams of Beaches’ reflecting exactly this. The full EP—an irresistible meld of two original records and reimaginings—is out now, poised to set the tone for 2025.

Already part of the Life and Death family since ‘Bey Beh’ and ‘Dale Dale’, Luke Alessi’s music sits in its own lane, refusing to be pigeonholed into any conventional genre. A frequent collaborator of Chloe Caillet, Carlita, Rüfus Du Sol, and many more established talents, 2024 has been a huge year for Alessi, with noticeable DJ debuts from Mexico to Asia via Europe and North America.

Julian Sánchez, better known as Sonata, began his journey in electronic music at the age of 15 in Monterrey, Nuevo León. Over time, he has developed a style that blends the power of Techno, the energy of House, and the depth of hypnotic sounds—always with the intention of connecting with the dance floor and making people move.

Throughout his career, he has released music through various projects on labels such as UD Records. Currently, with his project as Sonata, he founded his own label, Striva, where he promotes sounds ranging from high-energy House to Peak Time, Raw/Deep/Hypnotic. In addition to continuing to explore his musical identity, he seeks to collaborate with other labels and artists to expand his sound.

Although his music has mainly resonated in the local scene, he has shared flyers with well-known artists and performed in cities like Monterrey and Playa del Carmen, appearing at Circo Sonoro, Topaz Deluxe, French Fried, APARATO, and La Old School Mainstage, among other underground events and after-parties.

His music is designed for the dance floor: more than introspective or laid-back, Sonata focuses on energy and rhythm—perfect for non-stop dancing.

He is currently pushing Striva forward, preparing new releases, and developing his radio show Striva Sessions, while continuing to explore his sound and connect with the audience.
