I've been on a rock music kick lately, and the other night I heard an aircheck from 2003 when Keller (who's now at WEQX) was on Channel 103-1. With all that in my head, it made me wonder... what it would sound like if the station was still on the air? ...and that's how this demo came about. I was mostly a Q103, 104.9 The Edge, & especially a Rock 100.9 guy; however I did every so often put on 103.1. However, when I really started listening to them is unfortunately when they pulled the plug.

For those who aren't in the know, Channel 103-1 was an ALT/Modern rock station in the Albany NY area from October 2nd 1999 until September 20th 2010; their sister station NewsRadio 810 WGY is now heard on this frequency.

DEMO: What if Channel 103-1 was still around in Late May/Early June 2025?

Practice demo of a traffic report that would air in the Albany NY Market on a country radio station during the morning commute. 

The sponsor read was custom written, and is not paid for or endorced by them, it was added for practice of writing and reading sponsor copy.
This report is not real and never aired... The station that this is meant to sound like is now defunct. (liners were recorded from over the air while the station was still around, & the music is from my personal library)

Practice Traffic Reporting Demo - 104-9 The Cat

As someone who grew up in Northern NJ, I was very familiar with WPLJ; I even remember listening to it as well as Q104-3, 105-7 the Hawk, WDHA, and CBS-FM as a child. Naturally, it was my favorite station of all time listening on the web and whenever we went back to NJ to visit family. It was only a matter of time before this demo was created, but with PLJ's extremely mixed variety of many formats and genres, it was quite a challenge figuring out what should be in it.
WPLJ is still an active station, but now is a simulcast of K-Love; a big changeover from what it used to be. If the sale to it's current owners never happened, I think it would still be extremely successful. It's hard competition in NYC/Tri-State radio, especially with players such as Z100 and New 102-7 in the mix, but I still think PLJ was one of the best of all time, & it's still hard to believe they're gone.

***THIS NEVER AIRED ANYWHERE. This is my creation from the assets I have available to me, such as bed musics, my own music library, and part of a recording from the station found online. These demos I make are for personal practice and entertainment purposes.
