Some time ago I asked Donato to compile the “Rome” edition of the 200th podcast for electronique.it.

His response to this challenge is a techno mix that I can best describe as an intense, intimate and evocative portrait of the reality that is Rome. While drawing on a wide range of source material and inspiration from the past, he constructs a deeply personal mix that is directed towards the future. It is, in a word, epic!

You would think the young Brighton b2b London based producer Etch is either lying about his age, or is a reincarnation of an old-school UK raver from about 25 years ago. Something about the way he’s structuring his tracks heavily rooted in the history of British dance music from old school jungle and drum and bass to breaks and hip hop, always with a touch of psychedelia and solely his own Etch-twist.

His new Technicolor Daydream EP is a colorful example of the aforementioned sentiment. Now released via Barcelona’s imprint Lapsus Records, it continues the chain of excellent releases from Etch via Soundman Chronicles, Keysound Recordings, Wisdom Teeth and Space+Time.
