Simulated Sun is a band. It makes music from the future played as though it is from the past.

The Sound of Ugly emerged in 2006 from Woodland Hills, CA when founding members and childhood friends, rapper Casey Bisetti and bassist Abu, wanted to blend Casey’s lyrically rhythmic style of rapping with dynamic rock, hip hop, and ambient beats. Shortly after forming, classmate and rising guitarist Daniel Braunstein joined the two. The group shared an undeniable chemistry, propelling them to write and record a handful of demos, as well as play tons of local shows. 
Jada Pinkett Smith was one of the first to notice of the band’s distinct sound and became a huge supporter. Partnering the group with Producer Eddie Wohl (whose notable credits include Fuel, Anthrax, and Smile Empty Soul), The Sound of Ugly recorded their song “Follow Me,” as a feature in her 2008 film and directorial debut, “The Human Contract.” This opportunity, along with the continued collaboration of Eddie, began generating serious momentum for The Sound of Ugly; but integral pieces of the puzzle were still missing. 
In 2011, the missing ingredients were found when singer Olivia May and drummer Trevan McClure joined the group. A powerhouse vocalist from Fresno, CA, Olivia brings a playful yet deeply emotional side to the band. Incorporating pop, rock, and soul elements, she provides the perfect balance to Casey’s clever and rhythmic rapping, adding an even greater depth to the band's sound and audience. Trevan, a fellow childhood friend from Woodland Hills, brought the perfect groove to compliment Abu’s hypnotic bass lines, giving the band an even tighter and more refined sound. Together, The Sound of Ugly has cultivated a truly unparalleled style, drawing influences from all genres of music and making it their own.
Today, with the long awaited release of their debut album entitled “Lapse," The Sound of Ugly gears up for what they've all been working toward. After pouring years of love and sacrifice into their craft, they are ready to share their music with the world. Not just through our speakers, but on stages everywhere.
