I fucking love Tuesdays. Said nobody ever. So to brighten up your Tuesday afternoon we have a nice little treat for you in the form of an exclusive mix from the mystery wrapped in an enigma himself: Claptone.

Little is known about the DJ/Producer with his biography describing him thus: "In a now long forgotten world, many generations ago, a bird like shape emerged from wooded dark- ness, floating and fluttering, drifting and dreaming. Backlit by a bright glow of iridescent light, the undecipherable form wore a dazzling golden mask. Its long beak swooped down like an inverted horn and since then, people have referred to the mythical being simply as Claptone."

Whether or not that is a true account remains open to debate (although we'd put nothing past the avian-mask wearing maestro) but what we can confirm is that he has delivered yet another storming mix for us at Data Transmission ahead of touching down in London at Electric Brixton for Tube & Berger’s much anticipated Deeper Sessions on February 21.

Layton Giordani makes his Truesoul debut with a pumping, three track release. The high energy tracks showcase Layton’s youthful and fresh approach to production. ‘Unspoken’, holding a pounding kick drum and thumping techno sound, is the heavier of the three tracks whilst ‘Misunderstood’ and ‘Trusting You’ cut a lighter groove. The samples are uplifting, sounds imaginative and the percussion is tight - this EP is not to be missed.

Now in its second decade, with a steady stream of the most forward thinking and cutting edge techno productions, Drumcode has one of the biggest selections of releases from industry heavy hitters, whilst not forgetting its future by bringing the newest talented producers into the limelight, where Layton Giordani is now a name firmly within that line up.

The New York born, but now EU based producer first had recognition back in 2014, and his debut release came via Drumcode with his track “Rivington” on the A-Sides Vol5 compilation in 2016. 

Consisting of 12 original tracks, the album packs a punch when it comes to no-nonsense techno. Successfully weaving relentless drums and catchy vocal hooks into a selection of thick, brooding, atmospheric tracks.

About Fideles :
Fideles is a project born of Italian duo Daniele Aprile & Mario Roberti. Emerging in early 2010, the pair have already released a substantial body of music to date, across a number of leading imprints. With the aim of delivering a mature and complete sound, their productions have found their way to release on labels including Josh Wink’s ‘Ovum Recordings’ & Oliver Koletzki’s ‘Still vor Talent’. Fideles’s rounded production, combining a mix of melodic and interesting layers, has turned heads of leading DJs and music fans alike. It’s evident from their recent EPs and mixes that Fideles are a duo that have a lot more to give. 2017 is set to be a turning point for the Italian duo. Having already released on Innervisions and with more equally highbrow productions scheduled for later in the year, Fideles are fast becoming a rounded and familiar electronic music act.

About the EP :
The new year on Exit Strategy starts with the second strike from Fideles.

The title track ‘Cerchio’ really works the elements of suspense and tension over its slow burning progression. 

On the flip ‘Distorted Foam’ & ‘Panorama’ both fuse dark late night vibes with a hypnotic lightness.

West Rules is a new hub of music from Buenos Aires, Argentina that has been launched by much loved producer Joaquin Ruiz who has been making a solid impact the last few years.

With two new original tracks on WR003, he has also released quality music on the likes of Re:Axis’ Monocline, Robert S (PT)’s trau-ma, Labrynth, Vegim’s TMMR, Arnaud Le Texier’s Children of Tomorrow and many more.

Appearing on remix duty is the London based producer Antonio De Angelis who has been delivering amazing music for quite some time, and his remix here follows contributions to our own DEAD CERT. Records, Children of Tomorrow, Sonntag Morgen, and Dynamic Reflection for example.

The track we selected for this DT:Premiere is Antonio’s rework of “Signals” as he focuses on a hypnotic and building tension as the spine of track. Panning, stuttering hats add depth and welcome disorientation to the piece, as the slow burn rises to a bubbling a simmer after the break with a wall of energetic and haunting emotion. Engaging and produced with a midas touch, this is destined to reach out and capture new souls…

If you think about the growth of the electronic scene in Latin America you should have to mention the name of Sonico aka Sonicore.

As unstoppable promoter, label manager, booker, club owner and true soul techno head since 1995, Sonico/re has been playing, producing and promoting electronic culture from Colombia/South America to the world making parties, bookings and music through his labels and event brands Techsound and Hardcodelia founded in 1.999 and 2007.

A political way of thinking, open minded music formation, endless marathon mixing journeys on almost all 4/4 styles mixed up with eclectic music production and sensitivity in any rave manifestation have grant him a solid reputation around the globe on several different music scenes from techno to hardcore. Sonico is in fact one of those guys who been working it out the right way for years and have never corrupted on his serious ideas regarding the techno scene, keeping low profile but high reputation status.
