I think that when you hear the whole series, you will be able to understand just what an amazing and creative label Moving Shadow was, as in the space of just five years they released everything from euphoric breakbeat hardcore to sinister darkcore to jungle anthems to rugged hardstep to smoothly atmospheric drum n' bass to fearsome techstep, and beyond.

75 Shadows 002: 1994 [Moving Shadow Tribute Series]

I was recently reminded by my old pal Olly that once upon a time, I made him a 'Foul Play versus Omni Trio' mixtape. I had little recollection of this initially, as it was donkeys' years ago and would probably have been a one-off mix recorded while herbally ameliorated. I certainly don't recall running off a dub for myself; the original cassette, it seems, is long-lost. Forward a quarter of a century, and in my Selectabwoy 'career revival' (lol) I've never been particularly inclined towards making all-artist mixes, but something about this concept - and Olly's enthusiastic memories of it - grabbed my imagination. So I thought why not give it another shot; this time armed with a wider collection and a few additional releases under pseudonyms.

Got some new Summer of '94 mixes sat here, but the weather is dire, so I'll go with this one to pass the time until the sun emerges. To give it its full name: Hard Leaders 6 Presents Jungle Dub 2. (Hard Leaders or Hardleaders? The CD says the latter but I'm going with the former). Anyway, it's a firm favourite of mine from back in the day, nice blend of ragga jungle and jazzy rolling vibes with a few exclusives in there; an absolute pleasure to mix. Enjoy.
