Known and loved for creating some of the finest bass sounds, Boombox Cartel drops their highly anticipated 'Cartel' EP. The five-track work features three previously unreleased tracks “Phoenix,” “Dem Fraid (feat. Taranchyla)” and “Widdit (feat QUIX).”

The EP opens with the melodic “Phoenix,” a future bass tune which acts as the introductory track. The next song is “Jefe,” an extra bass heavy track released at the beginning of March, marking the first new music from the duo in some time. The following track is “Alamo” an energetic hybrid track which has already amassed thousands of plays since being released last month. Next is a riddim track titled “Dem Fraid,” a slowed-down rhythmic yet wonky song. Rounding out the EP is “Widdit,” this collaboration with the bass don QUIX is sure to be heard in every trap set this summer.

This track was recorded in Brønshøj water tower, DK, by Ditte Rønn-Poulsen and Yann Coppier, using two sets of Schoeps microphones and 6 loudspeakers placed in a huge concrete room. One set of microphones is following the humans, another one stays in the heart of the tower. After a while they collide and we all start making music together, as a trio, using analog synthesis, percussions, vocals and a waterphone. Once finished we get into the open air, 34 meters above the ground. The room is, again, waiting.

Nods to a US house heritage with a pensive European new wave atmosphere, combining spoken lyrics, rolling bass and lo-fi flute. From @vktr on @nosclassics, a new label run by @uffeisaband.
