Conceived as an ecotonal space where the multiple sonic reinterpretations of the composition can converge, we are pleased to present the first compilation of EKŌ, a platform inspired by the essence of the spatial and acoustic propagation of rhythmic and experimental phenomena. Which seeks to share through this selection different ideas and creative sensibilities around experimental dancefloor. Where it is sought that, through the value of sharing in equitable and diverse ways, it is motivated to generate changing, thinking and sensitive spaces from, to and with what happens in the world and on the dance floor.

EKŌ baste together and puts in dialogue the personal universes of each creator in this compilation, also as a presentation of what EKŌ is and intends to generate, allowing us to access those meeting points that occur beyond the physical.

We, nineteen Czech & Czechia based producers, are in unison against the aggressive occupation and invasion of a sovereign country of Ukraine. On February 24, 2022, Russian troops invaded Ukraine, masking the operation as a "peacekeeping mission”. On August 21, 1968, our country was also invaded by the Soviets and Warsaw Pact armies. The occupation lasted over four more decades.

By a coincidence I watched a movie named "Eye Origin" which my cousine asked me to see many times. Next day I found out I turned the movie on couple of hours after she died. I felt dizzy and extremely cold that day and I could not sleep in the darkness.

WETLAND relates Bill Fontana’s “Landscape Soundings” to current climate protests in Vienna – around the now cancelled construction of the Lobautunnel and the planned city road. Excerpts from Fontana’s work were heavily transformed by the artists using machines and effects devices, combined with voices from the Ö1 programme Hörbilder “Kampf um den Lobautunnel” and chants from the global climate movement.

The resulting audio play portrays a contested landscape whose ecosystems are once again under threat from current construction plans and the effects of the climate crisis. Wetland is also a portrait of a generation marked by fears and worries about the future, and driven by the urgency to change things together. Hainburg ist überall.

As part of the Ö1 focus on “Im Fluss – Donau”, Kunstradio presents the legendary project “Landscape Soundings” by Bill Fontana. For fourteen days in 1990, live sounds and tones resounded from the Stopfenreuter Au near Hainburg. The soundscape of the Danube floodplain was transmitted to 70 loudspeakers with the help of 16 microphones and directional radio. These were mounted on the façades and in the domes of the Museum of Art and the Museum of Natural History and made the undisturbed nature of the Stophenreuter Au at Maria-Theresien Platz in Vienna resound in an unusual new way.

WETLAND is the second collaboration by Adina Camhy and Katrin Euller after the radio piece Droneland (Ö1 Kunstradio 2022).

Object permanence is knowing that objects continue to exist even when they cannot be directly seen or sensed. This fundamental cognitive skill allows us to form and retain mental representations and was the trigger point for Welia’s eponymous EP.

Touched, consumed, and motivated by often contradictory emotions like anxiety, acceptance, and being at peace with oneself, Vienna-based artist Alexandra Anthea alias Welia presents a wide range of stylistic infuences ranging from ambient to breakbeat, UK bass and techno. Her sound cosmos is carried by metallic sounds and synthesizers, unexpected drum patterns and heavily manipulated vocal fragments, which she records herself and elaborately enriches with FX layers.
Although these elements are typical of Welia's previous productions, the latest release on Viennese label "sama recordings“ also explores new artistic levels and expands into more experimental directions by incorporating trap, drone or noise elements.

The four tracks on this EP were produced between 2022 and 2024 while traveling through Italy, Austria, and the US. Welia’s music is unsettling, morphes unexpectedly, and is constantly on the move. It serves as a re-interpretation of past memories while being aware of the present and future. For Welia, similar to the permanence of objects, memories of space and people retain their intensity and tangiblity as time goes by.

Not losing touch, nor sight.
Even when something isn't in direct view, it still exists.
