From one of our last nights of T-funkshun, some six and a half years ago now (as I type this).  We welcomed the legendary Larry Heard that night to the Cavern club.  I did my best to set some sort of tone, and here is part one.

None of this would have been possible without my dear friend, and brother, Mr Nicholas Hardie.  Miss you man.  Can you feel it? R.I.P.

Mike Grant - Frequency Detroit House Mix

After 17 years I have finally relocated this mix.  A time when techno wasn't the trend, it was other people's stranger, but our closest friend.

This was to prove a seminal period in building our Detroit-inlfuenced mecca in Liverpool in the UK.

The month before we had welcomed Mike(Grant) to blow minds, then (DJ Bone) joined us to do this.  Soon to follow were Kenny Larkin, Stewart Walker, Stacey Pullen, Terrence Parker, British Murder Boys, Damon Wild, Dan Bell, Larry Heard, and the one and only Mr Anthony 'Shake' Shakir to name a few.

Oh what a night it was as hopefully Eric can still remember.  You can't beat at scouse crowd for warmth and love, nevermind an underground lot like these.  By the end of my set the place was bouncing, and before long the whole stage became a dancefloor when Bone started with everyone showing so much love and admiration.

It was a night I will never forget, and further more important to me as my great friend, and co-promoter, Nick Hardie, who I had had such a ball with putting this together, is no longer with us.  To you Nick. RIP our own party Hardie.

Well after 17 years I finally found some old T-funkshun mixes - including this one. Back when techno was dirty word among the masses, and we promoted Detroit and all good techno and deep house on the Liverpool scene.  It is part of my set before for Mike Grant at the Masque Theatre.  

One of my favourite nights, as I had always pushed to get Mike over to the UK, as he is one of the best djs I ever heard (house or techno) so clean, crisp and precise.  Anyone enough superlatives about him, this is me, laying some foundations for his set. Hope it is enjoyable for new ears, and brings back memories for others.
