Red Rack'em - In Love Again

Sound Avenue wraps up a strong spring season by showcasing new interpretations of ‘A Fading Dream' by Madloch & Subnode. Originally released in August of 2023 as the lead piece to the duo's 'A Fading Dream' EP, the deep dubbed-out nine-minute epic was one of depth, character and groove. Fully formed within the creative confines of the duo's Belgian studio, it was yet another chapter in Madloch & Subnode's prolific partnership, one which has succeeded in showcasing their inventive approach to composition, while remaining both club-effective and listener friendly. Moving forward, the duo wrapped up a successful 2023 with the October release of ‘September Day', a concise yet whimsical and wondrously dreamy piece of music which was celebrated for its fluttery drum arrangements and airy sense of space. With 2024 now well into its second quarter, Sound Avenue looks back on ‘A Fading Dream', inviting Figueras, Diego Moreira and Ercos Blanka to re-imagine the track for the summer season.

The original track, here on the flip, featured on Skymark's 2015 'Wave From The Nucleus' LP- a beautiful song from the sun-kissed Swiss musician and producer who resided in Rio de Janeiro for many years, and now in Barcelona. 

A real meeting of minds - both artists express their love for the deep and organic, incorporating Brazilian sounds, gospel, disco, jazz and soul in their music. Their similar, detailed approach and ideology blend perfectly on this 12” release.

The track "Funki-Ghetto" was released back in 2000 and appears on the Album "Lounge Excursions" by Glenn Underground on Guidance Recordings US (GDRLP 603).

Glenn Underground (Glenn Crocker) was born 1971 in Chicago, USA. He's the founding member of the Strictly Jaz Unit. He was raised on disco classics and freeform jazz in Chicago's Southside, the place where house music was born. Taking inspiration from Chicago's original pioneers, Larry Heard, Ron Hardy, Lil' Louis, and the like, Glenn has produced some of the most well respected deep house music of the past five years. His releases for Cajual, Prescription Guidance and Peacefrog have set the standard for sophisticated dance music. He is one of the few DJ's who can walk the line between deep jazz house, disco influenced house, and the kind of classics featured at the legendary parties of late 70's Chicago.



Glenn Underground - Funki-Ghetto

Gin Tonic Orchestra, a brand new band out of St. Etienne (France), deliver the second release on Mother Tongue records.

The brainchild of keyboard player and producer Victor Dijoud - also known as Kaffe Crème - and drummer Leo Puccio, alongside multiple collaborators both in their studio and stage incarnations, Gin Tonic Orchestra is a collective of young talents, gathering their musical inspiration from future jazz, broken beat and latin vibes.

The Stefania EP - a tribute to their native city - is the band’s debut recording showcasing compositions such as “Hands On The Drums”, a driven yet subtle soulful track coloured with jazzy cymbals and lush harmonies and “Get A Umbaye”, where Afro-latin grooves are juxtaposed against elements of funk and ethereal flute solos, reminiscent of the London and New York acid jazz era.

UK legendary keyboard player and producer Kaidi Tatham appears on track two of side A with a stunning remix of “Hands On The Drums” mixed by none other than Eric Lau, giving the track a new life with a heavy broken beat feel, filled with syncopated riffs and intricate synth solos.

I have many stories to tell. I express most of my sentiment through rhythm and sound. To me there is a refined way to do all things. Though many may not take the route of refinement my connection to Oshun will not allow anything else. For me music is the purest and highest form of communicating love, pain,and progress. I recently went through a painful experience that brought about a new level of power and reason that I put to verse and rhythm. This lamentation will be the first single from my new Album "Romantic Flight". For some reason I just could not finish it before, now I know why.
