Grosso is the best instrument we have produced to date. Period.

With Grosso, Sonokinetic BV is changing the paradigm for orchestral phrase-based instruments… again! Before our Minimal library, the level of control, whilst retaining the authentic sound that live recordings bring to the party, was unheard of. We have gotten so much positive feedback on Minimal that a ‘sequel’ was unavoidable. Mere sequels is not what we do though at Sonokinetic, so if you look at what Grosso brings to the table, you will see an evolved entity that is a homo-sapiens to Minimal’s homo-erectus. 
We have conceived this instrument from the ground up, using parts of the Minimal engine and reimagining many other things to accommodate for the added flexibility Grosso brings to the table. The main difference, apart from the obviously upbeat nature of the recorded material and the addition of a choir part and a taiko and non-melodic percussion section, is that we split out the orchestral sections into more parts. Strings and choir are split in low - mid - high, woodwinds and brass into low and high, percussion into taiko and more traditional orchestral percussion. All of these elements have been carefully composed to work well with all of the others, resulting in millions of possible combinations of sounds.
The nature and sheer amount of this raw material, and the added flexibility we needed to offer to you in an intuitive way, led us to a completely new interface style, and it made us split up the instrument into different Kontakt .nki’s. Don’t worry though, we have laid out the keyswitches in a way that still makes it possible to play this instrument ‘Minimal-style’ with the whole orchestra on one midi channel.
Grosso is a 12/8 feel library, and we have configured the engine to work in both 4/4 and 12/8 time signatures within your DAW. Though the instrument was conceived with trailer and action styles in mind, the finished product is capable of so much more, limited only by your imagination.
Check out our demo section to hear some of the compositions made by the incredibly talented composers in our beta team, inspired by Grosso. In fact, much of the early feedback we got from these guys included the word ‘inspirational’ as much as the word ‘exceptional’. If there’s ever an instrument that can help you get out of a funk when you need it most, it’s this one. We have even included a randomiser button to provide you with different pattern combinations at the click of a button.
To top off the collection we have added a ‘transition builder’ instrument that is aimed at gluing parts together, and building up towards climaxes. It includes brass and woodwind crescendo chords, and recognises different chord types, like diminished, augmented and dominant 7th. Chords are constructed on the spot from a collection of recorded intervals. This builder instrument also contains percussion and taiko fills, and a fully playable multisampled taiko ensemble patch, both as an ensemble and individual drums. Exquisite Intimacy; Many people assume that Sonokinetic’s signature sound is grand and statuesque, as we fill our recording space with many talented players and layer phrases together in our bespoke Kontakt engines. However, sometimes it’s great to dial things down for a more personal feel, and that’s just what we’ve done with Indie. The style of these intimate ensemble phrases take their lead from modern TV drama, boutique film and independent video games with a naked and personal sound.
Recording smaller versions of our string, woodwind and brass ensembles just wasn’t enough this time around, so we’ve also supplemented them with a huge selection of melodic percussion phrases. For the first time ever, string quartet phrases have been included, perfect for layering with the other ensembles to bring the focus back to your compositions. The overall emphasis here is on the lightest of touches, from delicate violin duos and solo clarinet to harp glissandi and gently played mallets. 
In fact, the melodic percussion deserves a special mention as we made sure to catch all the subtly and wonder of these instruments, including the seldom-sampled concert cimbalom, a dulcimer-like instrument with a unique sound. The dreamy melodic textures we composed for Indie were delicately played by our performers in the same space as the other ensembles. Marimba, xylophone, glockenspiel, vibraphone, crotales, upright piano, celesta and concert harp bring an intense personal feel to the whole collection.
We felt that the Indie recordings were well suited to the playback engine which we originally debuted with ‘Noir’, our jazz-drenched section library. That means that the 12 preset keys each hold a single performance. Mapping phrases like this makes it easy to combine melodies and harmonies and hear real-time performances intertwine with one another. 
The randomize feature also makes a welcome return, which conjures twelve complimentary phrases with every press. There’s also the option to randomize per orchestral section, either string quartet, string ensemble, woodwinds, brass quintet or melodic percussion

Sonokinetic introduces "Ibrido Cinematica", the first release in the Sonokinetic Ibrido Sound Design product line. Ibrido Cinematica is a hybrid sound design tool, built from custom organic sound foley and samples from the Sonokinetic vault, and blended with state of the art signal generators and processors. This instrument will infuse your composing palette with a vast collection of innovative hand-crafted samples, produced by Mexican sound designer Juan Pablo Naranjo. In close collaboration with Juan Pablo, we created a unique and inspiring composing tool, adding advanced NKS functionality to make it work seamlessly with the Komplete Kontrol software and Native Instruments hardware controllers. Here we've navigated uncharted terrain and bring something new to our instrument range and hopefully this product will intrigue and motivate composers and sound designers from all walks of life. It is an exciting detour for us to step into this realm of hybrid cinematic sound design, and we've pulled out all the stops to make sure this instrument lives up to our Sonokinetic standards. Ibrido Cinematica hosts four main categories: Ambiences, Shorts, Noise & Drops and Shine & Crush. The material ranges from impacts & hits to whooshes, drops & glitches (for musical cue transitions). There are also plenty of long evolving and morphing ambiences that provide a colorful background palette on which to build your score and tracks. Ibrido is very versatile and feels as much at home in a cinematic media score as it does in a modern dance track.
