Quadrivium presents FAEYAN. Faeyan is the forest psytrance project of Amine, a Moroccan music producer in France. Inspired by his North African roots, Faeyan reimagines the mythical and historical tales of Moroccan and African cultures, blending them with supernatural entities and imaginary creatures. His music takes listeners on a journey through twisted sonic landscapes, featuring profound atmospheres and disorienting grooves with a touch of both technological and ancient soundscapes. In Faeyan's own words about this set: "This live set features both released and unreleased creations of my own, all crafted during moments of deep introspection within various living rooms in my home city of Nantes, France. These tracks encapsulate my imaginary wanderings at this particular moment in time. Between light and shade, joy and melancholia, eeriness and playfulness, you'll find the most personal representation of my music in this set. I-Contaqt @ Crystal Sky Open Air 2024 - Bass/Dub set (Franklin, Minnesota)

MoDem Festival‬ in Croatia is widely considered one of the best, and most important, festivals on the psytrance calendar. It’s influence on the festival scene cannot be understated. When I started making this music, I promised myself that, before I was 30, I wanted to play on the Hive stage. Well, 5 days before my 30th birthday, I had the honour of doing just that. It did not disappoint, and it was the best dancefloor I have ever had the privilege of experiencing.

I decided early on that this was where I was going to debut my new album (forthcoming soon on Bom Shanka Music) and record the entire set. So, here it is – the full video of my set on Thursday 8th August 13:30-15:00 on the Hive.

Thank you to everyone that danced, everyone that filmed and everyone that gave me emotional support in the stress of finishing the tracks before the gig! Biophotons Vs Hakka - Hakking Photons

Sophia Amare Remissionem was born many millions of years ago somewhere in the vicinity of the accretion disk formed by AE Aquarii, a white dwarf that also exhibits many of the properties of what the Earth-born would call a “pulsar”, located about 86 parsecs (280 light years) from Earth in the constellation Aquarius. 

Presently incarnated as a humanoid multiform membrane residing in the boreal forests of Minnesota, she channels vibrations in space-time into a specific admixture of darkness and light for which that sector of space is so well known, emanating a hybrid Terran/Aquarian energy pattern that pulses to the frequencies of her home world, pulses that often sound suspiciously similar to many of the darker of Earth’s current “psychedelic trance” sonic lattices.

Earth’s science has not yet managed to detect the ultimate aims and purposes of her beacons, but it has been theorized that her feverish nocturnal pulsations, apparently half of this world and half of another, serve something akin to the function of a hailing signal.

What are her true aims? What are her actual motives? Is she attempting to heal a broken world far younger than she is? Or is there some other purpose? Perhaps someday her true aims will be unveiled by the scientists of our world. 

For now, Earth’s “psychedelic trance” culture, indeed, has rained down accolades upon her alien arts, deeming them their own music, and it is entirely possible that they are nothing more than that. However, others have postulated a deeper intention to her cosmic voices: though not yet confirmed by emerging scientific inquiry and consensus, it has been conjectured that her frequencies possess certain properties that excite a warping or a bending in the space-time fabric between this world and the distant Aquarius star systems she calls home.

We must content ourselves with hailing her as a true practitioner of the forest and darkpsy traditions of Earth… at least in appearance. For just about all else about her hypnotic sounds and their effects both on the fabric of space, and on the people with whom she shares these emissions is, at this time, a total mystery. Is it music… or something more? Only the future shall know for certain.
