A desert consists of totally diverse particles - not one is equal and all are changing constantly. “Savanguard“ is like a desert, inspired by the difference of sounds. The first long-player of Rico Puestel stands for his early experience in music and his versatile taste which grew over the years. 

Jazz elements in “You Were Here“, winding synths in “Van Ferry“ which remind us of the golden 80’s and a pop attitude in “Volute“ - the whole album is one large-scale sound research and all particles are matching within completely different tracks. Vocals are used sparely and there's no rigid focus on the club scene. “Savanguard“ is an adventure, it tells a story with many breaks and changes in its plot while some tracks remind you of the good old times, when electronic music was built in a small studio with equipment stacked up to the ceiling. 

These songs like “Ubiquitous Ropes“ and “The Third Part Of The Moon“ are build organically and analogically with details so clear and genuine. A desert can be warm and cold, it can be dusty and clear - there are small elements building one big thing and “Savanguard“ is exactly like this: Entirely changing with every replay.

JackLNDN is one part classical technician and two parts main room club surgeon.  He’s simultaneously a mixture of centuries of European musical heritage and a sneak preview of the future.

As a producer and DJ, he has quickly established himself as a character whose work is quickly drawing attention for its freshness and whose potential is seemingly endless.  In his time on earth, LNDN has spent more time performing and playing music than most do in a lifetime.

On the production side, he started gleaning tips from friend Harry Wolfman and combined that with his knowledge of Logic and other bits of his training. Ever since, he has been slaving away in the studio, developing a variety of his unique strains of dance music. The linchpin of the sound has always been house, but filtered through an ever-evolving set of lenses: progressive, pop, jazz, and beyond.

Young JackLNDN is now poised to move large congregations himself. His remix and original production slate is stacked, in addition to his weekly DJ slots. This classical-turned-dance prodigy has got the musical chops and attention to detail so often lacking in dance music.

With his well received Ultra Records debut ‘All I See’ now available, and sets spanning Lollapalooza to Electric Zoo, we thought it was high time to bring the man himself on board for an exclusive mixtape.

The new EP on TOY TONICS comes from David Pezzner. Four dirty instrumental techno-funk tools. 
Before joining the German Toy Tonics crew Pezzner already had some impressive releases on Visionquest, Crosstown Rebels, Freerange and Systematic records. Pezzner lives in Seattle, the former capital of Hardcore/ Grunge - now developing into a city with a big scene of quality techno artists.  
What else we need to know? Pezzner wrote a letter to Toy Tonics, telling them that he loves the label more than any other imprint of the moment. Then he introduced himself like this:

"I am David Brian Pezzner. Born in California some 30 years ago and living in Seattle now. I am 5 foot 7 inches in height and weight about 165 lbs. My brother, Bill works at the Port Of Seattle and has four children, two of whom are actually step-children. Billi`s wife owns a local publication and is a skilled bicyclist (even though she has not gone professional.) When I work in my studio my wife brings me a drink and we discuss her day.  Besides writing music for night clubs and headphones, I compose music for vision and function, and teach electronic music writing concepts to private students."

Being born in Frankfurt is not such a bad omen if you want to make electronic music. 26 years later and after a few Motown Records and hip hop influences and a 6-month traineeship at Cocoon it is safe to say that the advantage of the birth city has paid off for Emanuel Satie! Fascinated by artists like Luciano, Sven Väth and Ricardo Villalobos, Emanuel initially starts as a DJ. He moves between house and techno – always ahead, always deep and with groove and soul. The focus of his actions is crystal clear: the happenings on the dance floor.

An intriguing new sound arising from eastern shores of Europe got caught as our latest addition to the free download series. It comes from Bucharest, Romania by an artist that goes by the name Atapy. His intense new production 'Vibra' is up for your taking. 

Since just five years ago, his career has been firmly on the rise with likes of M.A.N.D.Y., H.O.S.H., Ritchie Hawtin, Dubfire, Tom Budden, Djuma Soundsystem or the frech legend, Laurent Garnier, himself. The year of the rise for Arpi Takacs (aka Atapy) was 2011, starting with his previous key releases on his own Cimelde label and Get Physical, alongside his collaborations with (among others): Noir, Louisahhh!!! or Cari Golden, reworking The XX and the legendary Knight Rider theme (personally highly recommended to check that one out).

Quality, not quantity is claimed to be the aim of Atapy , and indeed his real is becoming more and more solid, with his tracks gaining depth and seriousness, distinctive to the Romanian artist. Such as one is one of his last tracks - Vibra. Ethereal and intriguingly uncomfortable, like a scene from a movie of Lars von Trier, this hypnotic track is rounded with the correct balance of all the elements, that lead you through a narrative with its opening, culmination and its close.

Lead track ‘Weltschmerz’ sounds like an instant Berghain classic; dark, massive, trippy, and with an emotional character all too rare within the genre. The kicks are banging, the verbed out percussion is fierce, and it all moves around a haunting melodic breakdown that artfully dances on the right side of ‘progressive.’ It’s a killer track that perfectly sets the tone for the whole record.

‘Damage Control’ is a straightforward flex-a-thon, a housier rhythm that struts along confidently. The technical term is ‘floor-filler.’ ‘Lonesome’ brings the emotion back, with it’s super-tense, unresolved melodies, this is perfect for all your mega-club yearning & gurning needs. ‘Relatives of None’ is the nastiest of the bunch, and probably the most at home on Turbo, built around a screechy synth hook. Finally, ’Weltschmerz (Melodic Theme)’ provides an epic ambient outro, crystallizing the emotional tones of the EP and establishing a sense of artistic vision that ascends well beyond the pedestrian.
