Featured on the second sampler for Lenzman's début LP 'Looking At The Stars'. A rolling string laden affair with housey bass accenting proceedings well, reversed loops make for a great soundscape backdrop whilst the vocal sample gives a warm edge to the track.

Lenzman launches his debut album ‘Looking At The Stars’ on the seminal London-based imprint Metalheadz.

The debut album ‘Looking At The Stars’ arrives with all the aplomb you would expect from the Dutch producer. He has taken time over this project and the results reflect this. The long player solidifies the Lenzman sound you have come to love and edges it forward into new realms of production and style.

‘Through My Eyes’ is the perfect mid set track, It’s a stripped back track for the dancers. Made up mainly of drums, percussion n bass. The tune is an eye’s down number, a 4am Fabric roller.

Summer finally seems to be in full force here in the UK which we’re very happy about and we’re also very pleased to formally announce a new resident has joined our collective, Lurch. 

From an early age Lurch has been a devoted music  fan and multi-instrumentalist. He started djing and producing in 2006 after he became enamoured with the deeper side of dubstep. While in an Oxford based punk band until 2012, he produced on and off until later on in the year when he started to take things more seriously. 

He quickly snapped up opportunities to release on LDNB Music, DNBB Music and Soul Deep Recordings, also gaining support from Different Drumz and Ledge Sounds. Releases on other exciting labels like Intrigue Music are already lined up for the future. 

Things continue to look up for this budding producer, possessed by musical liquid funk that will surely continue to resonate through his future releases and beyond. Keep a close eye on Lurch’s pages to keep up to date with all of his forthcoming releases, news and events.

Relay & Front drop their new single on the Rub A Duck imprint, featuring the two titles “Farewell Letter” and “Farseer”.

Relay & Front, two producers from Finland and Estonia, teamed up in summer 2011 when they were both 19 years of age. Initially meeting regularly online, they eventually started working together after Front successfully enticed Relay into the world of drum ‘n’ bass. Their style, often described as liquid drum ‘n’ bass, has a lot in common with material from known acts like Makoto, Camo & Crooked and Netsky. The first title of this new single package, “Farewell Letter”, recently appeared on the soon to be released Snow Dance 001 compilation and has everything in it that marks their own sound, with live guitar and piano. The arrangement is elaborate and showcases an exciting combination of driving basslines, slightly mysterious piano programming and a merciless hammering breakbeat. Once the break sets in, the guys fade to a superb guitar lick that could have been played by The Cure; a given that adds that extra bit of atmosphere to the entire song. Perfect for the underground live sets.

The second title, “Farseer”, focuses a bit more on the harder side of Relay & Front’s sound. Once again our Baltic friends took their time to write an attractive arrangement for their synth programming, combined with swirly vocal samples. The chopped up drum fills make for a nice, rough edge to the end result, all the while staying close to the all over mystical feel of the entire production. It is clear that Relay & Front know how to deliver well prepared and ever so musical backing tracks with real instruments for today’s drum ‘n’ bass dance floors. Taylor made material for all DJs and soon to be found in a live set near you!

Somewhere deep in the breakbeat backwoods, a squirrel got into a stash of old jungle dubplates and never looked back.

Skankin’ Squirrel is a full-throttle jungle banger where bluegrass fiddle loops dance over chopped Amen breaks, and an annoyingly catchy squirrel vocal scats, chants, and squeaks like it’s headlining a barn rave inside a treehouse.

The energy is chaotic but precise — like Cotton-Eye Joe got a reload in a pirate radio station run by woodland creatures on too much caffeine.
The drops are thick. The bass wobbles with the raw funk of a moonshine-powered subwoofer.
