MIGHTY MARTENS – PAWER-ROCK aus Bielefeld (Pressetext)

PAWER ON! Mit einem Klick des „Mighty Martens“-Gitarrenpedals auf dem Cover unseres Albums wird der geneigte Hörer in die Zeit der mächtigen Powertrios der 60er und 70er Jahre zurückkatapultiert: hier gibt es ehrliche, handgemachte Mucke auf die Ohren.

Stilistisch sind die MIGHTY MARTENS breit aufgestellt, es gibt eine räudige Melange aus Rock, Blues, Hardrock, Heavy Metal, Funk und hier und da Spuren von Doom und Southern Rock. Diese blumige Mischung heißt im MIGHTY-MARTENS-Jargon PAWER-ROCK!

Das Fundament, auf dem dieser Schmelztiegel steht, ist der Bandsound. Geprägt wird dieser durch Karlis dreckige Vocals, seinen noch dreckigeren, fuzzigen Basssound, Franks fetzige und dynamische Gitarre und Bastis wuchtiges Drumming. Eben eigenständiger PAWER-ROCK. Das ganze herrlich antiquiert dargeboten mit Tonnen von Gitarrensoli, der ein oder anderen Bluesharp, aber auch mal experimentellen Passagen.

Oder wie das Gitarre&Bass Magazin schrieb, als es unser Album „Pawer On!“ im November 2022 in der „Yoursite“ Rubrik zum Newcomer des Monats kürte: „(…) ergibt das eine ganz eigene, oftmals auch psychedelische Retromischung mit viel Druck und Spaß in den Backen“.
