This isn’t an official remix, just me flipping those iconic words into something darker, faster, and ready for the dancefloor. Huge respect to Daft Punk for the inspiration — they paved the way for this sound.

⚡ If you’re into groovy bass lines, rolling basslines, glitchy vocals, and late-night tech vibes, this one’s for you.

‘What You Do To Me’ is a graceful slice of deep, melodic house music driven by an undulating bassline and tribal-tinged rhythms, whose slowly filtering vocal snippets and beautiful piano melody create a melancholic atmosphere. Building slowly, it peaks with a spine-tingling synth melody that once again shows Fedde’s deft way with a tune.

Sophisticated minimalism was always a core feat of ALEX UNDER's portfolio, with the Spanish producer also serving as the founder and label manager for much-acclaimed techno label CMYK Musik. After releases on iconic imprints such as Trapez, Soma or Plus 8, the Madrilenian - one of the most sought-after electronic artists in Spain - now presents OLAS DE QUILA QUINA, his very first outing for Kompakt. Three slick, enticing cuts show him comitted to rolling basslines, rising synths and snappy percussion, all embedded in the futuristic sound design Alex has been honing over the course of his career. Unfolding to the backdrop of brooding metallic drones, the title track only needs a handful of carefully processed sounds to tell a highly evocative story - a focussed, geometrical jam that nonetheless allows for freewheeling outbursts of creativity. Our latest “Looking for Mushrooms” EP comes to us from a collaboration between long time Dirt Crew resident Tigerskin and gifted jazz pianist and composer Grambow. We first heard from Grambow when his fluid key stylings featured on Tigerskin’s “Faint” in 2015.

The title track is a suspenseful and moody journey, lead by live double bass from feature artist “Das Eb”. Building in intensity with Tigerskin’s warm production and steady percussive instrumentation until Grambow’s live lead on a gritty synth growls in over the top. A true modern electronic classic as far as we are concernred.

“Tsukiji” is a playful deep house groover. Balmy tuned percussion and shaken highs roll along under the light hearted piano which cruises along throughout the whole tropically touched endeavour. This track has “Party” written all over it!

“Octocat” is a tougher italo disco tainted work out, tightly programmed live and analogue percussive elements push along, while wailing keys lick over a tenacious grunting bass. You can really taste and feel the long studio sessions the guys had to compose this great track. It is so much more than generic dance music.

“Red Fox” is a divine culmination of the pair’s compositional prowess and dance music knowhow. A cinematic and spirited house track that glides and glistens via delicate piano, plucky percussive riffs, bright strings and woodwinds.

Talented Australian newcomer Jamie Lloyd continues his upward trajectory with his debut album Trouble Within released internationally in September following two successful EPs in 2006. The album has been getting the remix treatment from some of our favourite producers ahead of it’s global release with the first 12” to surface featuring remixes from Berlin duo Trickski [Sonar Kollektiv] and Zwicker [Compost Black Label]. 

Trickski fans won’t be disappointed as the duo step to the plate with a high-octane floor-rocking house rework of You and I that has already been setting floors alight for the few who’ve received advance copies - Damien Lazarus and DJ T immediately added it to their next Get Physical comp before we even had a mastered copy! The hats sizzle, the bass kicks and snarls, the snares crack... but what makes these guys stand out is their innovative arrangements and fearlessness of taking risks. The power in this track palpable as the vocals build and build, then plateau… before the track drops HEAVY and we are off again. Killer.

On the flip Swiss producer Zwicker (the man behind Kumquat on Compost Black) gives What We Have an utterly tasteful rework, with an exquisite nudge here and there to bring it into “last track of the night” territory. Jamie’s soaring butter smooth vocals sit atop tasteful live hats and a solid bassline in what is a very musical and soulful dancefloor compatible interpretation of the original.
