Now four releases in, Razor-N-Tape Reserve continues to deliver the deepness with this EP from the Netherlands’ Junktion. Although a relative upstart on the scene, Junktion has been getting some serious heads nodding lately with releases on Sleazy Beats and Outplay, and the Hot & Bothered EP continues to define his dusty and organic sound. From the summery ease of the title track, to the fresh take on the oft-sampled 'I'm Wishin' to the discofied chugger 'Fling Cleaning' followed by the slow-burning 'Visions of You,' this EP is a beautiful listen from beginning to end. I just had the first listen in a long time to this remix I was lucky enough to work on in 2006 of the mighty Blaze, famed for Lovelee Dae & Can Your Dance to My Beat. These guys are responsible for so much great New Jersey house music during the early 90s' and it was truly an honour to work on Alexander Pope's vocal on this. This a lot more vocal than a lot of my Silverlining stuff, but still pure underground house music from the heart. When involved in any genre that ends in the word HOUSE, it's important to remember the cultural and historical contexts whence it came. Vocals like this have always been a part of house music since day one. Thanks to JB for hooking this up back then.
