Hailing from the Netherlands, Utrecht-based Feiertag has risen through the ranks with a well crafted discography and a hypnotic soundscape on labels like Last Night On Earth, Boogie Angst and Kitsune. He is a consummate live performer and is also the drummer for Kraak & Smaak’s live show. Over the last year he has released a series of blissful singles & EPs giving a mesmerising foretaste of his debut album, set for release on Sonar Kollektiv in June. ‘Saccharine 374’ is a laidback and jazz fueled affair with enchanting chords layered over loose syncopated drums. A rich bassline and punchy vocal chants build the foundations, whilst elevating atmospherics and organic percussion add vital structure to this sun-drenched offering. ‘Saccharine 374’ by Feiertag will be released on Sonar Kollektiv on 19th March 2021.

This record is inspired by one of the most representative clubs of the Italian Cosmic movement of the 80s.

Rimini, 1981. Melody Mecca opens its doors and Dj Pery is the first resident, he spontaneously makes the club unique, through his personal choice of music, mostly relying on Afro and World sounds, rather than the disco-funk groove, filling Italian dancefloors in the early 80s.

Dj Meo, author of the outstanding Fine Corsa reissued in 2018, joins the booth in 1983 and the two create a magic flow, that resonates with the Cosmic scene. On the floor peace reigns and there is no need for security.

Aficionados coming from every part of Italy are like pilgrims gathering to the long stairway and yellow roof tarps of “La Mecca”.

The venue is huge, every night the musical path provides an educating experience bringing down the boundaries of mixing, dancers go crazy for mixtapes, hundreds are recorded after the parties and played on car systems, to the extent that who’s bounced is having a party in the parking of the club.

Stump Valley roots lie in the collection of records inherited from Dj Peppe, who inspired our Magica Movida. This is the second chapter of our tribute to that era, even if it won't be possible to recreate the same atmosphere of those magical nights today, till we will have stories like to one of Meo, the legacy of Melodj Mecca will still alive.

Based amidst the sprawl of East London you might upon an evening stumble into a party run by Let's Go Swimming. In recent months they have hosted the likes of Sotofett, Big Miz, Bell Towers and more. However, the formation of their own record label has since seen their relevancy increase dramatically. Doppelate is the latest artist to release on the label and he brings with him an expertly crafted blend of padded house, dreamy percussion and playful melody.

Previous productions have deftly struck balance between a powerful, analogue aesthetic and a rich sense of soul and their latest ‘Klosur’ EP is no different. Out on 27th February!

IDJ Review:
A single release for this track from his recent 'Sagitarii' album
Croation nu-disco don Ilija Rudman returns with new mixes of this track from his album Sagitarii, which was released earlier in the year.

Gonna go through the mixes in reverse order for this one. The THIRD mix presented is the Regal Mix, which is the one that appeared on the album and is quite a pace-y affair with a bed of laidback nu-disco synths topped with all manner of analogue, electro-y bleeps. SECOND on the tracklist is Rudman's own Main Theme mix, which isn't that different from the album version, truth be told, though there's a longer beat-free intro.

But the reason we're doing this in reverse order is to save the best till last, because the FIRST mix presented here, the Pete Herbert Remix, is a stunner. Herbert dispenses with the electro bleeps almost entirely, and adds a gorgeously warm n' slinky bassline, space-y pads and (in the mid-section) some 80s-sounding keys, transforming Cosmia into a slow-burning groover that'd work just as well as a warm-up number on deep house floors as it would in disco/nu-disco sets.

Rudman's album version and remix are plenty playable, for sure, but it's Pete Herbert's take that makes this a must-check.
