The past four years have seen Berlin label Soulfooled, founded and curated by DJ and producer Alex Niggemann, cutting its teeth in the scene of electronic music. To celebrate turning four, the imprint is set to release a ‘Best Of Soulfooled’ Compilation. 

From a label spurred on by an ethos where only the music truly matters, there is a lot to celebrate, as the label has really carved a distinct path for themselves, releasing nothing but strong, distinctive releases from some of the scene’s hottest names whilst also creating a platform for fresh new talent.

This lovingly curated compilation is an apt collection of some of the strongest and biggest tracks on the label to date – featuring tracks from the labelboss himself in the form of ‘Jewels’ and Matthias Meyer’s remix of ‘Boujuma’, to cuts from David Durango,Victor Stancov and Mario Aureo, and the stunning sounds of Rodriguez Jr.’s remix of Smash TV’s ‘Chrystal Moth’ , this assortment presents Soulfooled as a true bastion of the electronic music scene – expect true quality cuts built on a love for exceptional musical dexterity and passion.

Diving deep into the heavenly, surreal universe of the German duo Trashlagoon and their first release on Délicieuse.

The title 'Struggle' is the leading single extracted from their album 'Blue Empire' set to release January 2014. Sebastien and Niklas deliver us a sleek and euphoric sound, supported by the effectiveness of the piano gimmick. We admire their powerful yet subtle identity, a crossroads between UK garage and German deep house influences.

Madmotormiquel, commander in chief of the leading label URSL (Soukie & Windish, NU, Lake People, etc.) honors us by taking on a spin of the title. His personal touch brings a new energy to the original, with a backdrop of a racing deep house beat. Supported by names like Hannes Fischer, Nico Stojan, and Rampue.. this track already proves to be promising.

Our man, Viken Arman, reinterprets the title in a romantic and dreamlike way, utilizing his signature "pianistic" style (the harpsichord). Once again, we’re blown away by the quality of his production. Always polished and in accordance with the original track’s approach.

This release well identifies with the duo’s universe that they’ve since portrayed in their August release of "Daily Winter". For the upcoming months we’ve got only good things in store : a live exclusive in Paris, another single set for November, and a vinyl release exclusively available on the Délicieuse..

Patlac is no stranger to the international electronic music scene. Well-known for his empathy and sense for beauty, he's one of the few artists with a special gift for capturing moods and atmospheres and crafting them into beautiful music that speaks directly to the heart.

LA NUIT is a soulful, warm, glimmering tune that transports you back to starry nights spent on the beach, dancing barefoot in the sand, while the summer breeze plays upon your skin.

Lithuanian-based duo Downtown Party Network who lately stirred a buzz with their 'Space Me Out' EP, that got massive support by artists like Dixon, Âme, Mano Le Tough and many more, deliver a stunning remix for LA NUIT. Their version perfectly keeps the mesmerizing vibe while transforming the track into a smooth grooving, infectious, bass-driven dancefloor tune - what a beauty!

FIRMAMENT is the third part in the bundle - atmospheric, dark and full of tension; rounding off the EP perfectly.

Keeping the bar high for 2014, we welcome back Romanian producer Victor Stancov to the Soulfooled family. After a successful debut with his track ‘A Little Bit Like Hornsby’ on the ‘Soulfooled Cribs’ compilation in 2012, followed by a remix of Bog & Paronator’s ‘Dive’ on Akbal Music just last year, we give you his debut three track EP, ‘7th Minor’. 
In Stancov’s original mix of the title track, layered sounds build to a delicious crescendo, as hi-hats are joined by echoing staccato chords and a grooving bassline. Expect a melodic breakdown before the track sucks you back in to a surging finish. 
The remix sees German talent Show B create a  chunkier bass-filled bomb, complete with a haunting trickle that could only be described as what techno would sound like if it was rain. Like chilli in your chocolate, this remix is full of surprises, but really would we expect anything less from the producer, who’s had releases on Compost Black Label and Poker Flat Recordings.
The third and final track, ‘In The Background’ brings a dubby bounce to the table initially, before a contrasting uplifting melody and ethereal keys create the perfect soundtrack for those hazy sunrises just around the corner.

With Soulfooled #008 we welcome back David Durango to our Soulfooled family, with his forthcoming 4 track EP ‘Super Market’. The Swiss DJ and producer, who has already graced the rosters of cutting-edge labels such as Poker Flat, Dessous and NRK, uses this four-tracker to showcase his agile skill at producing unique sonic creations.
The title track alone solidifies again this artist’s fate within the Soulfooled label, as he creates a complex cut, merging sleek studio production with a rawness provided by the sound of muffled voices and gentle scratches on vinyl. Expect staccato chords to meet a steady melody and echoing chords to get you caught up in this EP from the off.
In ‘Bobby In The Hood’, Durango’s previous penchant for hip hop and his ability to blur genres is apparent – take heed, this is definitely a track deserving of only the best headphones or the best sound system, as each layer deserves to be heard, from the infectious synths to each hi-hat.

In Badow, Durango provides a gorgeous melodic interlude. Off-beat jazzy percussion merges with ethereal notes to create an uplifting track fitting for a Balearic landscape as the sun seeps onto a terrace somewhere.
In the remix, Nelson De Jesus crafts an edgier cut, focussing more on a stark soundscape, with a drizzle of percussion and a darker vibe bubbling under the track’s surface.
Overall, this succinct EP displays not only Durango’s skill and experience but also the passion he has for his craft. Welcome back David!

You don’t have to be a child to get excited about birthdays. We at Souldfooled HQ can barely contain our excitement as we draw closer and closer to turning 2.

Soulfooled - founded in 2010 by Alex Niggemann and Superlounge - celebrates its jubilee! 2 years of great work with our beloved label-artists, fruitful collaborations, successfull releases, memorable label showcases. What’s more, we are extremely pleased to see a young label can do so well. To say thank you and mark this joyous occassion, we are releasing a very special two-part package: ‘The Soulfooled 2nd Anniversary Remixes’.

Starting with the A-side of part one, we have the second collaboration between Alex Niggemann and Liebe*Detail’s Matthias Meyer. Matthias drops one of his deep driving bombs, creating his very own version of Alex Niggemann’s ‘Boujuma’ - adding a touch more melancholy than his usual remixes, it still stays true to the typical Matthias Meyer-tension. Bringing up nice swinging melodies in the breaks, but never losing sight of Alex’ deep grooves, that’s how we like it!

For the second A-Side track, Salvatore Freda proves remix- ing your own track is never a bad idea. A masterpiece, Salva comes back with a perfectly arranged and brilliantly technoid rework of his track ‘The Chosen Fools’ - showing off his ability to create outstanding grooves. Dark synth laden toppings combined with catchy vocals!

The B-side and definite highlight of this irresistible package is Martin Landsky’s very own interpretation of Superlounge’s 2012 hit ‘The Whisperer’ feat. Jonny Cruz. The 1000-Miles- king drops a superbly acid-inspired remix, perfectly integrating the warm Jonny Cruz vocals. The perfect match - well done Mr. Landsky, more of that!

Already known from productions on Get Physical and Mobilee since 2006, Jona is a true beat architect and one of our favourite producers of the moment. “Remixing the original was so inspiring” he says of his work on David Durango’s ‘Parametric Soul’. Using only the original main element, he combines it into a perfectly melodic arrangement. Durango’s original turns up in a completely new and beautifully touching way, an impressive example of when two first-class producers meet.
