Everything goes in cycles. One minute you have over-indulgent, glammy art-rock of the mid-70s – and the next minute you have the fiery, stripped-down intensity of punk rock. Thirty years later, you see a fluorescent, 80s-flashback-techno party raging – and sooner or later, it starts to bleed into filthy, twisted, and disgusting grungestep.


This is a compilation created by a talented group of dubstep / glitch hop / bass musicians, who focused their combined skills to come out with a series of remixes of old grunge tunes from yesteryear. The goal was to take rock music hostage; torture it, mess with it’s head, and give it a much needed kick in the groin. These are not electro synth-pop remixes, and this is not for dudes who wear skinny jeans – and it’s definitely not something that fits in with the clean-cut narrative of music history that Rolling Stone tries so desperately to promote. This is grit, grime, and grunge. This is culture jamming, at it’s finest.


So, we hope you enjoy our songs (while you still can) because as illegal as this compilation is, it probably won’t be available for much longer…

DJ FM has been a part of the southeast EDM scene for close to 20 years. As a DJ he’s played from Baltimore to Burning Man. As a musician he's performed his original electronic music with a live band and frequently incorporates live instruments into his DJ sets. He's produced over 90 songs, instrumentals and remixes, and even had his original tracks used on MTVs Real World, Road Rules, The Hills and Making The Band. His latest single "Halo (feat. Julia Vo) was featured and shared on Dancing Astronaut, the biggest EDM blog His most recent LP, “Last Man Standing,” as well as a remastered version of his first EP “Breakup” (1998) are available now on iTunes and Spotify. From 2010-2013, FM was resident DJ for Revolution Raleigh at Lincoln Theatre, the first monthly *cirque-themed* EDM party in the Triangle area with average attendance of 400+. FM also DJs Mardi Gras at Castle McCulloch in High Point twice a year, and the Couture For A Cause/Shop For Good fashion show in Raleigh to benefit Activate Good.
