A couple of things this week made me revisit this edit. Firstly Greg Wilson featured it in a 'Festival Anthems' selection he recently uploaded to Mixcloud - http://tinyurl.com/d6yvsbc - and secondly it was featured in the closing scene and credits to this weeks episode of Mad Men. The combined effect meant that a fair few people have been downloading the version I uploaded here 3 years ago (which was also only available as a low quality MP3), so I thought it apt to give it a 'spit and polish' and make a remastered WAV version available for download. 

Even if you downloaded my original version you should grab this too as the remaster kicks like the proverbial mule!  :)

To commemorate Tony Allen's passing last Thursday and celebrate his infectious drums sound, we share today the official solo track of his drums take on @sebastien-tellier cult song "La Ritournelle". 

Tony Allen was a maestro. His torso wouldn’t move when he played the drums. He never hit hard, his speciality was extreme subtlety. He played the drums on "La Ritournelle" in one take, then he had to pick up his kid at school!

Eternal respect.

CK303's tribute mix to the father of Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter. http://ow.ly/l2S7a

CK303's deep investigation into Daft Punk's influences led him to discover the music of Thomas Bangalter's father, Daniel Bangalter. Under the name Daniel Vangarde, the D.I.S.C.O. legend worked with the likes of Sheila B. Devotion, The Gibson Brothers, was sampled by Erykah Badu, wrote for Banarama and released under several monikers in France. Working with fellow writer and producer Jean Kluger as the Yamasuki Singers in 1971, they released cult album, Le Monde Fabuleux Des Yamasuki, as a pseudo-Japanese concept album of pop songs. The song "Aieaoa" on the album was later recorded, as "Aie a Mwana" by Bananarama, eventually becoming the first UK hit for them. He also worked extensively with 1980s act, La Compagnie Créole and was known for maing pop records with experimental tendencies such as left-field instrumental sections and incorporation of world music influences.

Daniel Vangarde 1971 -1987

This track is believed to be an unreleased Soulwax production sneaked into "Jack In The Box", their mix of old school Chicago House records from Radio Soulwax project.
"Ess & Dee" most probably stands for Stephen and David [Dewaele]. Cover image is based upon Housetime Records label design, and there's no release with "HT 1009" as catalogue number, even though C. Chudzik and B. Revo are real people.

Ess & Dee (Soulwax?) - A.C.I.D Washed

Another supposed Soulwax production - this time from their "Librarian Girl" mix of Radio Soulwax series.

Available clues:
- There is no artist called Antoine Clement. People at library music forums have never heard of this record
- This track's sound palette is very similar to what Soulwax have been doing for past 10 years

Antoine Clement (Soulwax?) - Advisory Moog

Another supposed Soulwax production - this time from their "Celestial Voyage Pt. 2 (The Pink Galaxy)" mix of Radio Soulwax series.

Available clues:
- There is no artist called Mission Control with "Surfing Through The Asteroids / Wait For Me" single on "Mi-pi" label
- If you pitch this track down, you'll clearly hear that one of the voices belongs to David Dewaele
