November 2016, 10 years of OTPMD. Vincent Bertholet, still resolute, finally realises his old dream of a‘real’ orchestra. And thus was born the project to expand the known horizon. The orchestra became XXL by assembling accomplices from the first hour, who had never really disappeared from view, and an English string section met along the way. From now on, they will be 14 on stage. An anniversary tour, prestigious stages and makeshift squats, unrestrained agitation as in the first days, and a larger chorus, more percussive than ever. The multi-headed Hydra gives voice in concert and the frail stages that host it groan under its weight. Nevertheless, it is in the studio that the foundation of a new adventure is forged. Back to England, in the imposing and magnificent building that houses Real World Studios. After Rotorotor (2014), John Parish is again at the controls. It’s called Sauvage Formes, a shrewd title, because everything here is as geometric as it is organic. The incisive rhythms, doubled in XXL, trademark of the pack, mingle with the unusually melancholy brass. The guitar riffs express themselves inminimalistic cascades, and since the number of strings has tripled, they allowthemselves the luxury of entwining with each other, like a carnal embrace without epilogue. The voices, more numerous than usual, recite, chant, lead the dance and poeticise, sometimes in French, sometimes in English, and, in the same spirit, the chorus takes the opportunity to shape the pediment of hymns to elsewhere. NOn crossing these 8 songs as beautiful as they are adventurous, it seems to be a story of a voyage, a torn logbook. On the horizon however, neither boat, nor rickety plane, neither map nor compass. Is it because the continent that is mentioned in these texts and melodies is not a known place, but rather a dream world, a land of asylum for rebels and the insubordinate, for the daring and the benevolent? The fourth Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp album is like a road, a purpose, an ideal of shared and shareable lives. And the writing of this music is like the defences of an imaginary seafront, like an act witnessing an intertwined destiny, an extraordinary adventure. The story of a chamberless orchestra, a sensitive battalion of unlimited generosity, a wild form that never needed a master to tame its imagination and determination.

Cómeme delivers to you one of the freshest rhythms of 2018, recorded in Johannesburg, the new residency for the renegades of the beat. This is “Rain” – starring Matias Aguayo and the actress, dj and singer Ayanda Seoka aka Mujaji The Rain. She’s resident at the legendary Bar Kitchener’s all femme “Pussy Party”, a space for feminist / queer action and dancefloor joy, right in the centre of Joburg. 

Cómeme has been since some time in a serious and passionate relationship with that city. Radio Cómeme transmitted shows from there with electronica legend Felix Laband, Mpumelelo Mkatha from BLK JKS, the queer performance duo Faka, Gqom pioneers RudeBoyz and also Kwaito’s legacy keeper Spleef McZaul. Matias Aguayo ventured into a beautiful collaboration with DJ Spoko, released two years ago on this label. 

“Rain” is a deeply rhythmical track, inspired by the grooves that converged when Cómeme swing crossed the paths with the syncopations people in Joburg were dancing to. It has become quite clear in the recent years that elegantly shuffled triplets are marking a way to the future in dance music, especially in the southern hemisphere, no matter if you’re in Durban, Rio or Santiago. 

On top of this modern groove we can hear Mujaji the Rain enjoying how she gets wet under a dark and tropical sky. Laughter, joy and ecstasy is what she emanates while hypnotically involving you into this atmosphere of dense drumming and trance. (side note: Cómeme has been consequently< evading the description hypnotical in press releases but this time it was unavoidable). 

For further jacking fun we generously included a “Club Mix”, including more drum frenzy towards the second half of the track, and a “Just Drums Mix” for the skilful DJ. 

Side B features the jam “Serious”, which comes along with another killer beat, reminiscent of Michael Jackson or Cheri. A late-night track in which Mujaji The Rain turns into a sensual but slightly annoying creature that doesn’t want to leave the dancefloor. and for sure doesn’t want to go home. 

We added an instrumental version to this complexly arranged tracks, which feature pianos, strings, and heavy synth bass stabs. 
All tracks on this 12” are written in a 6/8 signature, which some normative DJs might shy away from, but be safe: both tracks are in 120 bpm and carry the seal of official Cómeme dancefloor approval by the label’s highly respected DJs.

We’ve been getting a lot of requests for this record, since the Detroit crew (Theo Parrish, KDJ & Rick Wilhite, Carl Craig to name a few) picked up on it at the end of last summer… We've repressed some in order to supply the demand..grab them quick 
Side A is an extended disco version of Use Me, morphing in to and out of the original like butter. Clocking over 8 minutes Use Me Again becomes somewhat a modern take on the original disco version. It’s got enough drive to make a dance floor go crazy.

Side B meanwhile is an exclusive from his live set. Here he strips the classic “Over & Over” to the minimum before sliding into the original groove only for a moment, only to continue to ride the rhythm again.
