Inside a Building

Bucimis DubHop Industrial Step Garage Mix

This track was made for Christmas at Blenheim Palace. A mile long sound and light trail around the grounds, open from November to January 2016/17. The Firegarden was designed by And Now:. It features a central phoenix image hovering over hundreds of firepots. The music is based on Silent Night, played on Duduk and accompanied by tabla, Chinese cymbals, Irish flute, bird calls and flapping wings. The cymbal rhythm, in 12/8 comes from Aleppo.
Flapping wings recording credit to Felicity Ford. The doves wings were actually recorded in Hartley, Whitney very close to Blenheim Palace.

Silent Night Firegarden

Made entirely from sounds sampled at Middlesbrough Town Hall for an interactive installation in which people can remix the building.

The Windshield

  A low-res live recording of the premiere of Howling Wire, Dan Fox's giant wind-harp. Part of Audible Forces, a group show by seven UK sound artists produced by Oxford Contemporary Music and commissioned by Brighton Festival and Without Walls.
On this recording you can hear a high sci-fi-choir-like sound. This is produced by two 12 meter high nylon strung harps resonated by copper timpani drums. The bass tone is vibrating pallet strap amplified by  galvanised ducting  bass drums. All the sound is created by the wind blowing across the strings. The crunching sounds are people walking on the pebble beach in Hove. More details and tour dates for 2013 at www.danfox.net
