A short while ago, @freedomofgroovement sat down for conversation with Vish and Mazen from @dardisku. The aim was to understand the musical roots of this duo experiencing a meteoric rise. The result? A decade, continent and genre-spanning playlist: hip hop, bollywood, rock n roll, indie, raï, dubstep and disco. Definitively demonstrating that our influences are always all around us, and when you live the globe-trotting life these two have, there’s no borders on any dancefloor.

'Sporadic, wild and free he has never been one to be tamed, placed in a box and told how to play. From his youthful days spent painting the mean streets of London through to hisacid laden take on old school club music he has amassed a reputation as one of the bestin Britain' (Ransom Note 2018)

Fetish clubs, festivals, dark basements, back rooms, disco pubs and super clubs. Richard has done it all,globally, with 30 years of experience behind the decks and a 20 year history of dance music production. 

To keep out of trouble but still be creative, Richard's DJ journey began in 1989 with a residency at the legendary Crazy Club at The Astoria. Ecstasy, Acid House and frequent trips to New York visiting his heroes atNu Groove and Strictly Rhythm and searching for Chicago obscurities and Loft classics gave Richard the house and disco music bug. In keeping with the attitude from his graffiti background, Richard’s DJ style is totally original, and he has something unique to offer. Sen is a superb DJ with a vast knowledge and more music to call upon than most. His sets tell a story and reflect a deep understanding of dance-floor dynamics; this enables Sen to create and control the atmosphere in a room whilst still remaining unpredictable and edgy - taking risks with his selection. 

Sen has played big room disco/house/techno sets and can also play crazy eclectic sets including psyched outrock, leftfield funk and disco, newave oddities and obscurities. He has played all over the world in the past 25 years, including legendary clubs such as Sabresonic, Blood Sugar and Haywire (Weatherall’s club nights during the 90s), Sign of the Times (UK 90s), Heavenly Social (UK 90s), Fabric, Sub Club (Glasgow), Robert Johnson (Germany), Air (Tokyo), D-Edge (Sao Paulo) and Cielo (NYC), and festivals including, Creamfields (UK), The Big Chill (UK), Pukkelpop (Belgium), 10 Days Off (Belgium) and Vibes on a Summer's Day (Australia). 

Sen turned his talents to music production and recording in 1997. He has released many singles, albums andcompilations under his own name and under the guises of Bronx Dogs (1997-2003), Padded Cell (2005-2012) and more recently, Hackney Vandal Patrol. Sen's remix and production work have included respected artists and labels such as: Bryan Ferry, John Grant, LCD Soundsystem, Saint Etienne, Jungle Brothers, Sugarhill Gang, The Glimmers, Get Physical, Tirk and Wall of Sound. Padded Cell's 'Signal Failure' single was also chosen by Francois Kevorkian to be used in the biggest selling video game of all time - Grand Theft Auto4. Their music was also used in the U.S. HBO comedy show Eastbound and Down. Over the past 25 years, Richard has featured in many style/music magazines including The Face, Sleaze Nation, Jockey Slut, DJ, IDJ, NME and The Wire. The promo video for his 'This Ain't Chicago' compilation on Strut Recs (2012) was listed in Beatport's top ten house documentaries of all time. 

Sen remains passionate yet professional with impeccable taste and a healthy record collection. Still a fan at heart, some of his favourite DJs who have supported and played his music include David Mancuso, DJ Harvey and Andrew Weatherall.

O carioca Godi Osegueda tem uma longa história com a música. Já nos anos 90, ele ampliou seu então existente interesse musical em instrumentos para os campos da mixagem e produção. Desde então, foi figura ativa na cena carioca, como residente do 00, ou DJ na Dama de Ferro, Fosfobox, RARA, entre outras.

A Bigger Splash w. Lee B & Nick Cubs - October 2022

For the next mix in our podcast series, we welcome a special mix from DJ City live at Gegen, Pornceptual, RSO, Berlin. 

'Johan originally hailing from Stockholm, now residing in Berlin is known for long eclectic DJ sets, effortlessly moving within the various shapes of house, disco & techno. Holding down a residency at the infamous Cocktail D‘Amore party series, he’s become an integral part of the Berlin scene. 

With his musical productions he‘s been equally versatile. Since his debut on Public Possession in 2019 he found a temporary sweet spot in what could vaguely be described as vocal house, but in fact is much more, taking influences from EBM, Italo and electro clash all tied together by his deep, poetic, tongue in cheek lyrics. 

His songs dealing with love, sex, beliefs & life in a modern metropolis are quite likely being cued up world wide by the likes of Gerd Janson, Jennifer Cardini, Perel, Sedef Adasi and Seth Troxler"

The start of the year is always tough and with rekordbox struggles, Johan drifts us  back to the night of New Years Day where he played on day 2 of 4 at Berlin's RSO night club for Gegen and Pornceptual, who had joined forces to celebrate the New Year. 

In the words of Johan. "I played the penthouse floor which was like a secret little chalet hidden in the attic in one of the former factory buildings. I played my music surrounded by dancers and queer monsters and gods that made me feel both lost and right at home at the same time, just how the night should feel!"
