bv: Hey Lasse! We are really happy to welcome you in our podcast series! Please tell us something about the set you have mixed for us?
bS: Hey beatverliebt., thanks for having me on board:) For this set I have chosen one of my more experimental productions and mixed it up as the intro, moving into a remix I did of a beautiful track called Luminance made by my friend The Micronaut. I really like the vocal and guitar - it is his girlfriend singing, with lyrics from an old Linda Perhacs song. Quite a different sound than my other stuff - a bit space disco’ish if you like. My last release on 'Light My Fire' is also featured in the mix - again, slightly different sound.. but actually, all my tracks pretty much end up with a different sound than the last one - I have the feeling that dj’s can find my material difficult to fit in sometimes, Ha!

bv: How did you become a LIVE-Act and producer? Where are you musical roots? 
bS: I started manually looping stuff on four-track tape recorders twenty years ago, and never stopped.
Musical roots, hmm, I was very drawn by Hip Hop back in the golden age of that stuff, but in '97 some girls brought me to a trance party in a beautiful natural amphitheater. After that I was quite hooked on the out door party scene for a long time. I did produce and release some more progressive tribal stuff for some years, but stopped that about ten years ago. I get my ideas from all kinds of places - especially old traditional folk music from around the planet is a big source of inspiration.

bv: What does a good production need to make you fall in love with it or in other words: to end up beatverliebt?
bS: It’s got to have soul, and make me feel like that it has a purpose with me. If it can do that, then the quality of production comes second. But of course.. a really good mix and sweet production will also always ring my bell;)

bv: You are from Denmark. It would be really interesting if you could tell us something about the electronic music scene in your home country?
bS: We have many DJs and producers, and really talented ones too. It is a small country, and Copenhagen is a small capital, so the club scene here is quite limited, with places to go I mean. I only play here a few times a year. Summer time is different - we have lots of cool festivals and street parties at that time. If you should ever come here, promise me you’ll come in the summertime;)

bv: Let us talk about the near future. What kind of projects do you have planed so far?
bS: I have a bunch of almost finished tracks which are not really music for dancing, but nevertheless something I have put a lot of my self into. I want to release a record with those in the near future - even though it will be very different from what people might expect from me. On one of my releases from last summer, (“Circle” - second last track in the mix), I worked with a really good vocalist. Her and I have just agreed to do more stuff together, starting after new years. Also had a great guitarist in the studio last week, good recordings came out of that. It’s so nice to work with talented musicians:)

bv: Where can we see Be SVENDSEN LIVE next time? 
bS: I’m playing in Oslo on Tuesday, and right after that I will be leaving for a three weeks road trip in California with gigs a long the way. Now Thats exciting :) - but in Germany, next time will be Jan 17 at the 'Wander Zirkus' at Ritter Butzke, Berlin. So maybe I’ll see you there?!

A real pleasure to host one of my favourite djs in the Animix series, the ever-charming and immensely talented @playvlada, with her distinctly recognisable signature sound.

With a style deep, but somehow oozing with equal parts crunch and groove, Vlada is a master of blending her wide and eclectic old-school record collection into undulating journeys of bassy, hypnotic grooves, telling of her longstanding passion to the craft. 

The Russian born, but Berlin based mainstay balances touring with running mix series/party collective speLL in Berlin & beyond, with @vaahzer. One of my favourite parties in town :)

Hailing from Brooklyn's electronic music scene, Moon Patrol stands out as a compelling collaboration between Irina Kotik and Gilles Wasserman. As the visionary co-founders of the Brooklyn-based webzine Delayed, the duo brings a wealth of influences to their joint venture, Moon Patrol.
Their style fuses soft, delicate melodies and evolving ambiances with rumbling grooves and intricate percussion, taking listeners on unique journeys through their DJ sets and original productions.

The Cover Mix: Two Shell

Cachet is a Los Angeles-based, multidisciplinary artist and DJ from Chicago. Known for their genre-bending style, they mix house, soul, funk, disco, afro, Latin, and breakbeat music. Cachet held a long residency at Smart Bar Chicago and performed at Charivari Detroit Music Festival. They have radio residencies with Djoon Paris, Playasol Ibiza Radio, House Nation Music Bari Italy, and 313.FM Planet Funk Detroit. In Los Angeles, they have DJed at Ysabel, Margot, The Proper, and Bar Funke. Cachet founded Sashay Records, a queer Chicago-based label celebrating warehouse music and supporting independent artists.

An underground scene in the psycho tropics of crazy-meets-mad India—the most off-the-clock permissible place—was where Ray Castle found himself behind a palm tree with two Walkmans and a stack of cassettes mixing Special Goa Music in the jungle of Disco Valley Vagator in the late 80s.
What was this music? How did it find its way here? What was so special about it? Why did it have agency in Goa, like no where else?
For the DJ, each track was a hallucinogenic spell, an imaginal theme park ride, an aural-gasm rush—a mini drama in a nusical neural weave. Night music, first light music, morning music. This was not a night club in the wilderness. This was metaphysical, life-altering, eight-hour-dancing-non-stop, ritual experience. A unique Special Goa Music dancefloor sound that was a Gonzo blender of World Music, New Wave, Industrial, Break Beat, Neu Beat, EBM, Disco, Electro, House, Rave, Acid Tekno—all under 128 bpm. 
After ’93 the music sped up, became a genre—Trance, within which Castle produced music, inevitably to become trapped in cookie cutter fashion. Gonzo celebrates free range music on the dancefloor, which is the Goa he wants you to know about.

In January 2015, Christopher Lawrence took the Pharmacy tour to Australia. In addition to club dates, he also played at the legendary Rainbow Serpent Festival in Victoria. This is a live recording of his set from that event.

This was an especially important show for Christopher, because it was at Rainbow Serpent many years ago that his love of psy trance was born.

An der Westküste Indiens, in GOA, braute sich eine neue Musik und ein neues Lebensgefühl zusammen.
Weil dies den Menschen in dieser Zeit so gut gefiel, entstanden bald überall auf dem Planeten sogen. Goa Parties...viel Outdoor, aber auch Indoor.
Auch die Mystic Rose war eine der Blüten, die diese Musik trieb...(1994)

Um die Anfänge nicht zu vergessen machen wir heute einen Zeitsprung zurück in diese Jahre.
Drei Urgesteine dieser Psytrance Musik habe ich heute Abend versammelt, und wir tanzen uns langsam aus den Jahre 89/90 bis 2015 vor.

Das war eines der berühmten Lieder dieser Zeit.
Und anfangen wird SANGEET, dessen Set die Musik der Jahre 1989-1993 abdecken wird.

Es war einmal vor 25 Jahren - Part 1

I don’t know whether we are going to face some terrible global catastrophe in 2012 or not. I certainly hope not, I hope it will not come down to... misery and horror, awful awful things, there is enough of that in the world already.

But I do remember what all the ancient texts say. There isn’t a single flood myth, there isn’t a single story of the destruction of past civilizations that don’t implicate humanity in the story somewhere. Our own behavior, what we do, is part of what we are bringing down on the world right now. We are what we are manifesting in the world, that is what is coming towards us. We are the authors of this thing, and we can change the story if we want to change it, I firmly believe that.

This is the moment of crossroads that we stand at. None of us can affect changes on a macro level, it’s impossible to do so. But we can make changes on a micro level. We can make changes in our own lives, we can make changes in our immediate surroundings. Changes for the better, changes driven... by love, by hope.

I am a deeply flawed human being, I have tremendously bad habits and lots of... bad aspects to my personality. Over the last decade or so I’ve come to look at some of those things objectively, being very much helped by Ayahuasca, the brew that I mentioned from the Amazon in doing this.

I am working hard to change my life to try to be a more nourishing person to people around me. I am not saying I am succeeding, I fail everyday. But I am still trying to do that. And that is really all I can say when we confront something so huge, and so overwhelming as the notion of global destruction. 

No I can’t stop that, but I can stop what I am doing to contribute to it. And if we all do that, then I believe a huge change in consciousness will come and the world can move on, and we can look forward to a future for our children and our children's children. And once again bring this bright beautiful jewell garden of a planet, bring it back to the place that should be in our lives.
